Studying in Canada as an international student

I am currently studying in Canada as an international student (in Toronto at Ryerson University taking the engineering program). I love Toronto and want to remain in Canada after finishing my degree. I am concerned though that you now need a job to remain. Does anyone know what the requirements for international students now are?

You can apply for a work visa once you are done being a student.

Re: Studying in Canada as an international student

You have to get a job that requires a university degree in order to remain (ie no service job in a restaurant or shop). When you are done studying you get a work visa, if you get a job that required a degree and then build up 1 year of full time work experience (or 2 years part time) you can apply for permanent residency and get bumped to the front of the processing priority for that residency. If your work visa expires after you apply for residency you can get a 1 year extension so that your residency application is completed.

Re: Studying in Canada as an international student

What degree are you pursuing and do you see your job prospect in Ontario or some other Province ? The first thing you should do is to look into the provincial nominee plan. Its the fastest and easiest way to get immigration. When i did my masters they had 2 streams, Masters stream and Ph.D stream. I heard that after a year they have closed the masters stream so the nominee plan is applicable to you only if you are a Ph.D student.

I can't recommend you much unless i know which field are you in. ping me if you need mor einfo.
