That is true. However, you may want to ask yourself the question, are wage based economies the result of cultural and religious values promoting independence and agri based economies the result of religous and cultural values promoting extended family systems? Afterall, the west was also once an agri based economy. Therefore, they did NOT move towards greater regard for individual rights BECAUSE they were living in wage based economies.
