I know a person from Abu Dhabi. She completed her MBA few years back and applied to Canada for a 1-year certification program. The University of Calgary admitted her but the Embassy refused her Visa stating that she might not return after her studies once her Visa is over. She is kinda frustrated now and doesn’t know what to do.
Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks!
PS - Do you think she should have applied for PhD instead?
EDIT: She mentioned that she also got the ‘rejection’ stamp on her passport. Would that play any role in her visa if she applies in the future?
Re: ^^^ Study Visa for Canada? ^^^
Seems a bit odd, as usually a Canadian visa is easier to get, as compared to a US visa. There must have been something wrong with her papers or maybe she didn't file her application properly. Sometimes even a casual attitude during the interview pisses off the visa officer.
Yes - once a REJECTED stamp is put on the passport, you do have a tough time getting a visa in future, unfortunately.
Its not impossible though, just a lot of explanation to do and ensure that everything is in order.

Well in UK if they reject Student Visa you have right to file a pittition(pls Spell check) with court if the court beleive you are right and will order the Embassy to give him or her Student Visa. One of my cousion wins his case and now he is in UK:) I strongly beleive Canada do have same laws as UK. (he was in Pakistan and just send them copy of his application and rejection stamp whatever was that.
Re: ^^^ Study Visa for Canada? ^^^
Sorry I forgot to mention. She said that they rejected her application like 5-6 hours later which I found kinda weird. The Officer did not even call her for interview or anything and rejected her application without even meeting her saying that they are afraid she might not return after her studies. Btw, she could not go to submit her application and her sister went instead. What would be a wise step for her now. Should she go to Pakistan and apply from there (if that helps) or should she apply again at same embassy?
