Study Bachelor and Master in Norway (in English)

Dear all ,

I would all of you to encourage and guide as much students as possible from Pakistan to come to study in Norway. The education is Norway is entirely free.
With the current economic recession, Norway is a much better country to live/work and earn then even Sweden and Finland.
Norway has a slightly difficult process to obtain a student visa, i.e after getting admission in any university/college in Norway, one has to transfer the amount (87,000 Norwegian Krones) in University bank account in Norway. They, then send a confirmation by email, which can be utilized to get the visa from Embassy of Norway in Islamabad.

The process is entirely safe, and there is no chance of any mishap.
The best way is to transfer the money with wire transfer (through bank to bank) , instead of the ‘HUNDI’ or western union type firms.
If anyone of your relative has a dollar account in Pakistan, then you can ask them to transfer the money in Norway on your behalf. This way you will not loose much money in the process.

The HUNDI people take money from you in RUPEES, then convert it to U.S DOLLARS (you loose money in conversion), then the U.S. Dollars are converted into Norwegian Krones. Usually people loose up to 40-60 thousand RUPEES in the process. Please tell this to everyone who intend to come to Norway on a study visa.

When you are in Norway, these rather small losses do not matter much

The process of admission to Norway is simple;

1-Go to studyinnorway . no to search for Bachelor/Master programmes taught in English and their institutes.

2-Read the requirements of the programmes you are interested in.

3- Apply in at least 8 Programmes since the admission is getting more competitive every year now. Send application by regular Pakistan post, do not waste money on DHL, Fedex, TCS etc.

4- If you get the admission then transfer the required money in your University’s bank account.

5-Apply for visa in Norwegian Embassy in Norway with the admission letter, your degrees (attested from IBCC and HEC), English translated Birth certificate, confirmation from your university that you have transferred the money, and your passport.

6-Come to Norway and take all of your money back and spend it as you like.

Senor,

I read your Posts , regarding Education in Norway
You should be appriciated for such good efforts(guiding students)

But , I think inviting others(Especially Pakistanis) to Yahoo Groups is not good , when We have such a good plat form of GS.

Second thing I would love to hear from you the Education Standards of Norway(some comparison etc) and it is amazing that they provide free Education.

I want to go for Higher Studies(MS in Engineering) , do you have some suggestions for me ?

and how much it would cost me from processing to Completion of the degree.
and how long it takes?

Hope find soon your reply.

Re: Study Bachelor and Master in Norway (in English)

Thanks for the info!!!

Can you please guide us more ... Once your admission is approved from the university or college... What are the channces of getting norway visa .. is this 100% sure that you will be granted a norway visa ?

what are the other requirements for visa ??? & do you permission to work at the same time ???

Which university do you recommend for a Bechlor degree in Accounts ??

I would advise you to apply in all the possible options, it will increase your chances a lot. you do not have to think about the 'university ranking', until you actually get the admission in more then one university! Hope you have understood my point.
''generally' speaking, No university can be considered 'bad' here. because the government funds them, and the funds are always enough:)
what you need to think is, how do you categorize good university ? by the number of students? by the number of professors? by the number of rooms? by the number of publications in a year? by facilities? by opportunities for a PhD ?
I'll try to give some information, which might make you understand the context of 'education in Scandinavia' in general.

since the study is free in Norway, students go to choose the programs they like, because everything else is considered relatively the same.
the number of professor depends on the important of that specific department in that university. I would advise you to always try to join the departments which have more number of professors then any other similar department of another university. facilities are more or less same in all the university/ colleges.
PhD depends on the student, not the department at all . and as a 'general' understanding, Oslo University is considered the best in Norway(and one of the best in the World) and the hardest to get admission in, others come later, Trondheim Uni, NTNU, UMB, , Bergen University, Tromsø University etc etc

Cheers,

As long as all the documents are genuine, one should get the Visa. for other requirements, see the web page of Norwegian Embassy in Islamabad. one can work for up to 20 hours per week with studies. (just like in U.K)
There is no Uni in Norway offering a Bachelors degree in Accounts.

For ranking, you should be able to find university rankings lists on google. Find Norway in them.......!!!

Re: Study Bachelor and Master in Norway (in English)

r u serious? Free Education for all? i'm akeptical at best :(

Yup.
In fact, the education is also free in Sweden and Finland.

So bhai, why aren't there 10,022,232,211 Pakistanis rushing to Norway for this free education? You probably still have to pay living expenses and the climate is as cold as K2, but still, free is free.

Re: Study Bachelor and Master in Norway (in English)

OK Can I go do my BBA .... My budgt is very limited I will have about 87000 Kr. I m planning to apply there,
How much money do you think I will be needed to get my BBA done ?? I mean the living expense & all others expenses as well ???

Re: Study Bachelor and Master in Norway (in English)

Language is a big hurdle
living is not so expensive

I have many friends in Denmark, Sweden and Germany.

BTW higher education is free in many EU countries

**
for non swedish, finnish students? u must be a citizen like its in Canada but again university education even in Canada isn't FREE. check ur sources again. here in canada, u have to pay but every citizen/permanent resident [green card holder] can get loans/bursaries after meeting the residency requirement.

As Teen Dabbe Waalaa said why then 1 million pakistanis, 2 million indian rushing to get to the first world...forget the free education...lol **

Well, that I missed telling....
All sorts of education is free in Norway, Sweden, and Finland, except studying BBA and MBA :)

why don't you visit the website I gave in the original post to search for bachelor programmes? It will take lesser time then posting a questing here on GS :)

Regards,

I wouldn't want to get into this discussion. The purpose of my post was to motivate, inform and encourage students who are "living in Pakistan", to come to study in Scandinavia (Preferably Norway).
To give you a simple answer, many don't do that because of three reasons,

1> Either they do not have 87000NOK

2> They do not have a legitimate Bachelor or Masters Degree from Pakistan (less than 0.5 % of the population in Pakistan has post graduate education) and

3> They do not know about such opportunity, just like you :)

You should try reading some pages on the internet instead of asking for explanations here...!

I would rather spend my time in guiding prospective students, rather then discussing this !

For your info, Pakistanis are already the largest visible minority in Norway :)

Answer 1= Search for programmes on www . studyinnorway . no
Answer 2= If you use all of your money (87000NOK) in one year, then that's what's going to cost you each year :)
Usually students spend between 2500NOK to 4500NOK each month (depending mainly on whether they live alone in a studio apartment or share it with someone)

Thanks for updating the rest!

Usually the Bachelor programmes are three year long, and Master programmes are 2 years long. But there are exceptions, some Masters programmes are 1 year of length or 1 1/2 year.

Re: Study Bachelor and Master in Norway (in English)

is it for all students or only pakistanis?:Aq:
