Which one is better for a bride and groom session. Advice please. Hopefully from the already married ones whose pics turned out great or not so great depending upon their location. ![]()
Re: Studio or on location photoshoot?
As a freelance wedding photographer I can let you know that studio photography looks fake now and has been done way too many times. The in thing to do these days is to get a on location photo shoot done. It looks more nicer and natural, with candid facial expressions. I believe though, on location is more expensive. Don't know about where you live. Then again, it all comes down to preference of the bride and groom. :)
Re: Studio or on location photoshoot?
on location! imho studio shots can often be too posed, sometimes bordering on cheesy, but then it also comes down to your photographer and how their studio is arranged, i guess.
Re: Studio or on location photoshoot?
In UK I have seen more "on location" shoots than studios. Also, have rarely seen couple shoot. Would be nice to see more couple and bridal photoshoots as they have in Pakistan.
Re: Studio or on location photoshoot?
by on location I meant in the bridal room of the lawn or in the hotel where your function is being held...I think people misunderstood me
Re: Studio or on location photoshoot?
I got what you meant. I would still say on location photos are more nicer, vibrant and natural than in the studio.
Re: Studio or on location photoshoot?
hiya dubaiwali..had a couple of questions...if its an on location shoot..for eg a garden at around 5:30 in the evening and the function has to start by 8...will shooting outside affect makeup??will it lose the freshness?im in pak..and its summer here...so im soo unsure about this..the studios atleast are airconditioned..
secondy..do photographers use extra lighting for an onlocation shoot?if its in a garden or a park..do they generally play with natural day light and the camera flash?if so..do the results come out better as compared to a photoshoot inside a studio??
many thanks!
Re: Studio or on location photoshoot?
Depends on where you are getting your photo shoot done in the garden as well. For example if your photographer places you and your husband near a tree? The shade will help keep away the heat and won't affect the make up a lot. If it is directly under the sun, your photographer should be using outdoor flash umbrellas with stands, which should help keep the sun's heat away. Don't know about the photographers in Pakistan, and/if they are capable enough to do outdoor shoots. I'll ask Mohsin Khawar the photographer, how he goes about outdoor shoots in Pakistan. I've no idea about Pakistan to be honest, but there are many done for advertisements purposes as well, so same can be applied to outdoor wedding photography too.
Yes, they do sometimes. Depends on the timing of the day you are getting your shoot done. If it is during mid day when the sun's at it's peak, then no. No lighting. They just use reflectors and flash. They play with natural light and camera flash yes. In my opinion, if an outside photoshoot is done well, then yes they are more better than results from inside a studio. Then again it depends on the client's preference, but for me, studio photography looks fake. Cheesy forced poses, dark backgrounds, intense airbrushing etc. Makes the people look plastic. Out door shoots, have more light, more vibrant and colourful backgrounds and the people and their expressions look natural.

Re: Studio or on location photoshoot?
If one wants to go with the trend, despite everything, then yes, outdoor or on location wedding/engagement photography is the in thing these days.
Re: Studio or on location photoshoot?
At my wedding, which happened in late spring, we had some outdoor shots taken in a large park near the wedding venue- those shots were amazing, I prefer them to the on location shots in the hall. It does depends where in the world you are, the weather, and the photographer's style. I think studio shots can border on being a bit too staged/cheesy... Make sure you see the photographer's past work, this should help.
Re: Studio or on location photoshoot?
if your makeup artist is good, your makeup shouldn't budge. having said that, make sure you're not running around in 100 degree weather either. there are so many pictures of couples outdoors- have a look at those to see if you love the look.
Re: Studio or on location photoshoot?
Thanks dubaiwali...but wouldnt the photographer put artificial backgrounds if we choose the on location photoshoot? because most bridal rooms in Pakistan are not that good .They just contain a sofa or some chairs.
