DUA BEFORE STUDYING

Allahumma infa’nii bimaa
‘allamtanii wa’allimnii
maa yanfa’ unii.

Allahumma inii as’aluka
fahmal-nabiyyen wa hifthal
mursaleen al-muqarrabeen.

Allahumma ijal leesanee
'amiran bi thikrika wa
qalbi bi khashyatika.

Innaka ‘ala ma-tasha’-u
qadeer wa anta hasbun-allahu
wa na’mal wakeel.

translation:

O Allah! Make useful for me what You
taught me and teach me knowledge
that will be useful to me.

O Allah! I ask You for the understanding
of the prophets and the memory of the
messengers, and those nearest to You.

O Allah! Make my tongue full of
Your remembrance, and my heart with
consciousness of You.

(O Allah!) You do whatever You wish,
and You are my Availer and
Protector and the best of aid

DUA BEFORE STUDYING DUA AFTER STUDYING

Allahhumma inni astaodeeuka
ma qara’tu wama hafaz-tu.
Faradduhu 'allaya inda
hagati elayhi.
Innaka ‘ala ma-tasha’-u
qadeer wa anta hasbeeya
wa na’mal wakeel.

translation:

O Allah! I entrust You with what I
have read and I have studied.
(O Allah!) Bring it back to me when
I am in need of it.
(O Allah!) You do whatever You wish,
and You are my Availer and
Protector and the best of aid.

DUA WHILE STUDYING SOMETHING DIFFICULT

Allahumma la sahla illama
ja-'altahu sahla wa anta taj
'alu al hazana etha shi’ta
sahla

translation:

O Allah! Nothing is easy except what
You have made easy. If You wish, You
can make the difficult easy.

Please do post the translation as well!

subhanallah :k:

Alternatively study hard and fool around less. That also does wonders.

If people used their brains to learn more than to recite, south asia would have been a beacon of knowledge like millenia ago.

CORRECTION:

If people used their brains to learn more what they recite, south asia would have been a beacon of knowledge like millenia ago :k:

Don't post the translations. Let them be Mantras!

JazakAllah!

actually it was, but now i think people have stopped using their heads thats why we r suffering. u obviously don't know how much Islam and muslims have gave to the world. we gave u ur friggin numbers man, and face it u would have nothing without them today. they r the basis for almost ne technological advancment . before muslims used the Quran as their guide, and worked around it, thats why we got so far. we had libraries full of amazing things, god knows what, but then the damn Mongolians came and destroyed it all.

Um... Rab e Zidnee Ilman not good enough???

hahahahaha...what have you been reading? You gave us numbers? By "we" you mean Arabs not you. You are south asians. Your ancestors had universities established, were leaders in the world of science and mathematics, medicine, had figured out the pythagorean theorum before pythagorus and successfully implemented in practical applications of architecture.

the Arabs... not you.. and destruction of books is no excuse for a shortage of knowledge..

anyway.. care to share the origins of these duas?? who wrote them?? when did they first appear on the 'scene'??

be it me or arabs. the point i was directing it to just got skipped right over. i was replying to Mr. Matsui, who was implying that if the duas worked people would gain tons of knowledge from them. and the point is they do work, thats why the arab MUSLIMS got the numbers. and it wasn't just the destruction of libraries, the mongols killed all the people who put the info in the books of the libraries, so the info died with them to. the duas do work, not enough people read them for the right reasons though.
