So those of you international students who are studying from UK Universities … you are granted a two year post study visa right?
What kind of job opportunities are available for you? and how much of a struggle is it to find a job and what happens after the two year period? how many of the above visa holders ultimately manage to get on to a proper work permit route?
Not a promising situation for these students after getting the PSW visa! I know many who are either jobless or doing same odd jobs - super market, security, care worker etc!
Exactly, it's a freakin useless visa. Very few people I knew actually managed to get jobs, a friend of mine who got a job (which was through an internal reference btw) had to leave once the two years were up. In my experience, with many graduate programs being 3 years or so most employers weren't willing to employ me, they knew that my time was limited so they might as well employ someone who'd be permanent. Companies don't want to go through all the hassle of applying for a work permit for you. That coupled with the recession made me waste a whole year in the UK after graduation.
There are some companies like the big 4 accountancy firms who have work permit quotas, but I missed out on two opportunities at the assessment centre stage.
yeah they are finishing that category .... anyways no one ever got a job through that visa .. it was mainly for students to cover the loans by doing basic jobs !
