During the previous government of Shahbaz Sharif, student unions were banned from universities which helped creating an atmosphere for learning. For the past few months Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) has again started to raise its ugly head in University of the Punjab. A few months back they beat some professors in the university, and now they are trying to stoke ethnic tensions as they are creating problems for the Pashtun/Baloch students of the university. I hope the government takes corrective action as soon as possible, as most of these students have come to Lahore for studies as their own areas are unstable.
^ I am in favour of political student unions to be banned.
Although not many of us affiliate with Jamaat e Islami or IJT, but some students are seeing this as Punjabi versus Baloch/Pashtun fight and thats not good.
I am editing the name of the person but here are some tweets by some one who was in Punjab university when these events were happening:

Lahore: Pashtun students of various universities are protesting againt Jamiat terrorists for rights. No media coverage & no govt response.
Just IN: IJT terrorists threatened Pashtun students not to attend the classes neither stay in their hostels, otherwise they'll be tortured.
Just like MQM Islami Jamiat Talba trying to expell Pashtun studnts from all Punjab institutes. Where is the hell slogan, we're brothers?

Surely they can't get away with this, senior JI leaders should be called to answer these questions on talkshows. Preferably Hamid Mir who attracts huge ratings should invite JI leaders to highlight this issue.
