Re: Student life in US

People who post stuff saying things like, "oh come on, theres loads of ways to cheer yourself up" dont fully understand what it feels like to be in a crappy place.

Oh, and i though i was uncompassionate, but after reading a few posts on here i feel like a Saint!

"Public se hamdardee kii baig maangai" - WTF was this person thinking?! "Gee, i know what'll make this guy feel better"?!

"most of whom are only adding post numbers to their credit" - Where can get my credits from?

Re: Student life in US

you need unzapp your head a lil... what crappy place are you talking about... and dont worry... you aint a saint by no means...

Re: Student life in US

Crappy place = feeling lonely, depressed, hopeless etc.

Now this guy might not be feeling as bad as that, but when you do feel crap, its not easy to snap out of it. I think you've been watching too many Bollywood movies where a bit of song and dance is good enough to make someone feel better.

Re: Student life in US

What dictionary are you following.... Zapped dictionary.... i think you just need to ZIP it!

Re: Student life in US

Re: Student life in US

student life, actually, basically is what you make it to be.

if there are 4 quarters of your day, ideally during student life, you spend 2-parts in honest-to-God, studying and doing well, in school to be successful & maintain a great if not A+ then B+ track record. that means no time wasting, no procrastinating & no confusions about what you intend to do with your education. a good professional degree, a must, to have a stable earning & best training to begin the practical life.

then, 1 part is spent in self-care, gym, healthy eating, shopping for oneself necessities & work to make some money to pay your basic bills - stay budgeted as well.

remaining 1 part can be divided like this.

1/2 part devoted to your spiritual and intellectual growth, a skill you like - photography, guitar, music, panel lectures or seminars, learn a new language & most delectable, travel frequently, to explore the world, between semesters.

&1/2 part with family, & close friends (make diverse friends from diff. cultures and national backgrounds.)

since you have so much to do, hopefully, you won't get bored or feel lonesome ever. it is actually better, that you stay a bit selective in what social events to join in, and which ones to pass or definitely avoid. sometimes, loneliness is a great thing for introspection and during that time, gardening and tending to plants is the ultimate joy, or reading a good book is the best sincere & quiet friend ever.

best,

dushi

Re: Student life in US

I think this a is moot point to discuss if you havent actually felt feelings of depression, loneliness etc.

When you're in a situation like this you dont want to talk to anyone, you dont want to see anyone, things that used to cheer you up you cant stand anymore, you hate to be in a public place with lots of people, you wake up feeling scared, you lose your appetitie i can go on and on......

Re: Student life in US

Re: Student life in US

take some anti depresent pills for christ sake... you're making life a bit to complicated.. most people who study abroad go thru this phase but people live thru it... you get home sick.. you miss the food... all the old buddies of yours but guess what... tuff! you are making life this way cuz you want it to be like it... you can always make new friends unless you dont want to... i can go on and on as well...

Re: Student life in US

There is no chemical solution for a spiritual problem.

If you read my previous post carefully, you will notice that i dont specify what may be causing someone to have feelings of depression or loneliness. So to assume that a person is solely responsible for these feelings is a little naive.
