My HTC desire is stuck in a loop at the logo screen 
The logo screen keeps coming over and over again. Can someone help me with this ?

Have you tried restarting? Or do a hard reset on your machine ?

yep restarting isn't working either. The phone goes in a loop at the logo screen.

It's your phone telling you that it's time for a new one :)
Take the battery out... Wait a minute. Put back in. Restart....

I have htc one n I had same prb sometime bk
I got repaired/flashed my mobile by htc service centre
As far knowing ur situation, u hv two options
before taking any step, make sure ur mob battery is working good n fully charged, n then try to power on mob
• Take it to htc centre or any good repairing centre
They'll flash it using flash box (no volume keys needed) but this will cost u too much !
• Get ur volume keys repaired by any professional n hard reset it urself or let him do it for u
This ain't cost u much
Unfortunately u'll lost all of ur data/contacts etc if u don't hv backup!

I did that..but everytime I swithc it on it goes in a loop at the logo screen.

Put the Phone in Recovery Mode (Normally its Volume Down and Power) and take backup with ADB, find the latest RUU for your phone on HTC Dev site, flash it, done (i Know this is a broad statement, just search for each of these terms, you can easily do it yourself), and if you dont care about the Backup part, just get the latest RUU and flash it. Cant write the whole process, am on mobile and out of town, if you cant find proper tutorial for any of the above, let me know so that i can update this page. Meanwhile you can just flash the Boot Image to check if that fixes your BootLoop before flashing the whole ROM (Flashing ROM is easier, i warn you).
Flashing Boot Image
Get the latest Boot Image for your phone (XDA is the best place)
Boot into the Recovery and Select Fastboot
Flash the boot iimage with fast boot command.

Try resetting using HTC PC suite.

I got into the fastboot using the power and the back key but I can’t scroll down or up without the volume keys

By saying u dnt hv backup, I think u asking if there is any other way to power on mobile without losing data, the answer is No !
Some boot file is missing/corrupted of ur device n it needs to b flashed/hard reset
Get volume keys repaired, it will take maximum an hour for a good professional to repair n if u want to flash it, it will take maximum two hours !

I want to do it myself. I don't want to handover my cellphone to someone I don't know before removing my private files from it. I've been googling and trying out stuff. No luck so far :(

OK, if you're still stuck, connect your phone to your laptop. Install Android File Transfer on your laptop. Most likely all your files will show up and you can move them on to your laptop. As your volume button is not working, we need to figure out another way of scrolling down in recovery mode. At least transfer your data, that way you won't lose anything.

My mobile won't go beyond the logo screen. Connecting my mobile to the laptop is only charging my mobile.
