Stuart Broad S/o Chris Broad

I heard about his son playing county cricket but never realized that it is Stuart Broad until the 2nd ODI, when Gower mentioned something about Chris Broad while talking about Stuart. That’s when it struck me.

Surprisingly the commentators didn’t mention much about the father son relationship during this series and thats why I guess I never realized. Usually they tend to discuss alot when a son or relative of an ex-cricketer is making debut in international cricket.

How many of you knew that Stuart Broad is Chris Broad’s son?

Re: Stuart Broad S/o Chris Broad

i heard them mention it in the 20/20 when he got malik and younis on consecutive balls...and missed the hatrick when afridi skied one high but it fell clear of any fielders...he looks promising for england...lets see :)

Re: Stuart Broad S/o Chris Broad

I knew, and the anticipation and star boy treatment was more than evident in English commentators' tone. I am surprised you didn't find that fishy. The guy does have talent, but has been a media darling because of his heritage.

Re: Stuart Broad S/o Chris Broad

Itni putrannnnnnnnnnnnnnnni news hey yeh. :snooty:

Re: Stuart Broad S/o Chris Broad

^^
Sir jee news tu definitely purani hay and I knew his son was playing county, however I didn't notice commentators specifically talking about Chris Broad, like they use to talk about Miandad whenever Faisal Iqbal is playing, Sunny Gavaskar whenever Rohan is playing, Lance Cairns when Chris Cairns started his career etc.

Re: Stuart Broad S/o Chris Broad

With English players, you always expect the hype they get from commentators, media etc

Re: Stuart Broad S/o Chris Broad

I knew he is Chris Broad son even while he was playing along side Asif in County team. He and Walker are two promising young fast bowlers in county cricket.
They didn't mention too much about Chris Broad since it is not possible for commentators to draw any parallel between two of them, since one was a left hand opener, while other is a fast bowler. In other cases like Faisal iqbal/Javed, majid and son, Sunil and Rohan Gawaskar, it was easy for commentators because they could mention about shots, foot work and style resemblence between two relatives, but in this case all they can say is:
" he tended to appeal late, may be due to respect for officials taught by his father, himself an ICC match referee", or may be "he already knew how to behave among professional players dressing room, since Chris Broad might have educated him already".

He is 6.5 or 6'.6" and they think he will grow to 6'9", a Courtly Ambrose in making. He needs to put on some muscles on his legs and chest then he will probably be a great prospect for England future. Plus he can learn some tricks from Asif during county matches as they are in same county.

Re: Stuart Broad S/o Chris Broad

Ambrose was 6ft 7in,Joel Garner was probably the tallest ever cricketer with 6ft 9 height.
