Struggling with Spellings

I used to be the captain of our spelling team in school and now I can’t even spell ‘captain’ in first go. :frowning:

It’s quite alarming how even small simple words get confused. I’d put the blame on the ever growing internet lingo, not to mention the spell checkers, making you even lazier. It wasn’t enough that we had spell checkers in Word that they also included 'em in browsers.

I make a conscious (spelled consciuos in first go) effort to spell properly even in chats or while jotting down notes.

Do you guys face the same problem and what are you doing to improve it?

hmmm interesting. I normally do not struggle with spelling but often with typing - refers to typo - meet the king of typo here in the forums named X2.

often I spell spelling as speeling.

Having said that, we also have a queen of typos, goodnews, among us.

I think their side of story will add spice to the topic.

This is all because of ABCD teener and FOB, they messed it all over the net and sadly we are getting knowledge from net these days...

i use firefox so any word that i misspell is immediately underlined :D

I often find myself in your shoes too. Maybe yes its all in typo but well its really too embarrassing when comes from a so called master of the subject :emmy: :hmmm:

wot i've realized is that i was much better at spelling when i was in pakistan... now i sometimes get stuck on very simple words

OMG same problem here.. i just think im getting dumber.. its so embarassing at times.. i bet ive spelt embarassing wrong here :(

That's exactly what I do and that's what is causing the problem in first place. Most of the times I just let it get it auto corrected so I just end up forgetting 'em.

Typos are different, you do 'know' the spelling if it's just a typo.

Once I was writing an essay and I wrote ‘speshal’ instead of ‘special’ and ‘4’ instead of ‘for’ :smack: That taught me my lesson
