Desi style stringbean recipe needed. I only once in my life had stringbean salan i think it was at some aunties house and it was sooooooo good! Anyone got recipes to share?
Re: stringbean recipe needed
Do you mean "saim phalli"?
Re: stringbean recipe needed
Mince with string beans would be a good idea, I think.
Re: stringbean recipe needed
I mean the green beans with their pods should be cooked with mince or you can cook them with potatoes only.
Re: stringbean recipe needed

OK, try this:
Slice a large onion
Fry until golden brown
Add 2 tomatoes chopped
Fry until oil separates
Add haldi, namak, lal mirch, and kalonji (optional)
Add beans and a little water
Cover and cook on med-low flame until done.

What type of beans? Fresh one with the pod? Or peeled and dried ones?
Re: stringbean recipe needed
Why do desis use the same recipe for every salan ![]()
Prepare the beans.
Slice an onion thinly and cook it till its soft, not golden just soft
To it, add fresh Kari patta, dhania seeds and zeera and small diced tomatoes.
Dont make it all into a puree, keep the tomatoes shape just cook it till all the ingredients release khushboo
Add namak and mirch to your taste, if you want add a bit of haldi and in the end add the beans.
You might have to pre boil the beans to make 'em soft though cause if you cook them in the masala too long its all going to turn into a puree and be just useless.
Re: stringbean recipe needed
