Strictness to dress code

:salam2:

As far my knowledge, Sikh is more strict to their dress code. In 2008, 14-year-old Sarika Singh won a High Court case against her school after it excluded her for breaking its “no jewellery” rule for wearing a Kara (steel bangle), which is another symbol of Sikh faith. Similar to that I heard they also won another case of wearing turban that were allowed by local authorities.

Have you ever heard or read that another pplz from any belief won wearing their dress code in public?

P.S. Concern modz if you think its related to history than leave it here of feel free to move the thread in CL&L.

Re: Strictness to dress code

I think that probably not all Sikhs follow such strictness towards dress code, as they don't follow with hairs. There are Mona Singhs like Jagjeet Singh, Gulzar, who don't even have beard.

Regarding other communities fighting for a particular dress code, Muslims of Europe have been part of news over Hijab issue.

Re: Strictness to dress code

Well, I think Sikhs are more strict than others. You can see them always wearing turban and Kara. Most of them prefer not to do those jobs where wearing of turban and/or Kara is not allowed. But I have seen Muslim are ready to remove 'dhari' just for the sake of a job.

Re: Strictness to dress code

I know a person, who refused to work in a multinational organization just he didn’t want to wear Pant-shirts and tie and they didn’t agree to accept him in Shalwar-Qameez. :bummer:

There are people who follow traditional dresses, but this should not be followed rigidly. In rular Sindh, we don’t see now use of Ajrak much. Only on marriages, funerals and Sindh Saqafat day, we see people wearing traditional dresses.

Re: Strictness to dress code

in Indian context, Muslims are less likely to keep beards than Sikhs, and only amritdhaari sikhs follows 5Ks. But muslim women is more likely to be in Burqa than sardarnis in their traditional dress:)

Then there is sardarni Sunny Leone, no dress no code:D

Re: Strictness to dress code

:omg: Sardarni Sunny Leone

Re: Strictness to dress code

^^ She is next bollywood superstar, and our parliamentarians are caught watching porn during assembly session, hence can become next member of parliament:D

Re: Strictness to dress code

:hayaa: and we thought that soemone in our assemblies did a biggest crime of the history, while watching Farah Khan’s show during assembly session

Re: Strictness to dress code

Yes,every religion has orthodox ,moderate & liberal followers.
What you are talking about is acc to what you see in the media but there are thousands of stories that arent shown in the media.

yeah.

You are generalising here.My chacha refused to remove his beard & decided to leave the job he was working at for 5+ years ,but at the last moment the German general manager told him to stay & that he can keep his beard.

I hv seen such examples myself

Re: Strictness to dress code

Re: Strictness to dress code

Re: Strictness to dress code

Ofcourse they are also.

Re: Strictness to dress code

I wear hijaab and I am strict about it. And I wear it in gym and near swimming pools. But no one has a right to object until or unless I am not breaking any law.:chai:

Re: Strictness to dress code

I will leave job also if it contradicts with my religion.

Re: Strictness to dress code

^
Baja-Farmaya :)

Re: Strictness to dress code

:mirch: The point was rigidly striving for following a particular dress code by a community.

Re: Strictness to dress code

Watch your scarf attitude:)

that happened in Karnataka State Assembly, in national assembly we have Lalu Prasad Yadav, he should be declared as National jester:D

Following religion never contradicts job IMHO, if leaving is for protesting so that your organization change its thinking then it is appreciable. If you leave a job say for some particular religious reason and other person in place of you faces same problem, then, your leaving of job didn’t solve anything.
