Re: stretch marks

its got nothing to do with how you deliver. stretch marks are genetic, so it depends on what your genes say. does your mom have them?
i got a few at the very, very end, week 34 or 35. annoying and stressful when you’re already so huge! they do fade eventually but you can use things like bio-oil to help that process along. mine are very low on my belly so they don’t bother me that much. its not like i’m going to be wearing a bikini ever!

speaking of, has anyone here ever used bio-oil for stretch marks?

Stretch marks look like tiger stripes in your skin, around the area where your skin has rapidly expanded/stretched or shrunk. You will not get them from your actual delivery. They fade over time, but moisturizing lotions and oils are said to be beneficial (like sgc mentioned, bio-oil, cocoa butter etc). Stretch marks are also hugely dependent on genetics. If your mom got them, ao will you. Not a big deal for Pakistanis/Muslims…it’s not like we walk around in crop-tops…but if it does make you self-conscious…just know they lighten with time and some creams/lotions might help…but they’re permanent.

Re: stretch marks

I don’t think that anything can help. at least nothing helped in my case

Re: stretch marks

Use bio oil or cocoa butter

Re: stretch marks

I have mentioned some home remedies which can help you get rid of stretch marks:

Punch a small hole on the Vitamin E capsule and rub on stretch marks. Give it a little time to absorb and start working on the affected area. Then wash or wipe off.

Applying Aloe Vera gel on the marks would initially lighten and finally, remove the marks from the body.
Ground coffee into a powder and just mix it
with regular hand lotion. Rub this lotion into your skin for about 1 minute twice a day, wiping off the coffee grounds with a moist warm hand

One of the simple and good home remedies for stretch marks is applying lavender oil on the marks thrice a day will fade up the marks soon.

Put half cup virgin olive oil, quarter cup aloe vera gel, the liquid from 6 capsules of Vitamin e and liquid from 4 capsules of Vitamin A (avoid if pregnant) into a blender and store mixture in fridge.Apply it on stretch marks.

Include lots of green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, liver and dairy products in your diet.

Rub the affected area with apricot scrub. This is likely to remove the stretch marks gradually.

Mix one ounce of carrier oil like avocado, sweet almond, jojoba, with seven drops of lavender and five drops of chamomile. This will help in reducing stretch marks.

Re: stretch marks

These dont work on old stretch marks.

Re: stretch marks

Stretch marks come because the skin is stretched severely and the collagen beneath the skin breaks. Do what you want, but it is next to impossible to get these strands of collagen to join back. The purplish/reddish colour will eventually fade and get merged to almost your skin tone over a period of time…dont expect anything more than that.

Re: stretch marks

umm, i agree with honeybeez, stretch marks are genetic, not much we can do to get rid of them. i was lucky enough not to have any during or after my pregnancy, but I did get a really dark sort of pigmentation on my belly area with that line down my belly line nigra. that went away in a few months. i scrubbed real hard on my belly and the dead cells sort of washed away i guess.

Re: stretch marks

its been an year since i got them and they are still there just that dark color has changed back to my natural skin color…

Probably marks. Veins are’t reddish.

Re: stretch marks

linea nigra is not dead cells. it appears most often on darker skinned women. its hormonal and goes away on its own. no need to worry about it!

Linea nigra (Latin for “black line”) is a dark vertical line that appears on the abdomen during about three quarters of all pregnancies.[SUP][1]](Linea nigra - Wikipedia)[/SUP] The brownish streak is usually about a centimeter in width. The line runs vertically along the midline of the abdomen from the pubis to the umbilicus, but can also run from the pubis to the top of the abdomen.[SUP][2]](Linea nigra - Wikipedia)[/SUP] Linea nigra is due to increased melanocyte-stimulating hormone made by the placenta,[SUP][3]](Linea nigra - Wikipedia)[/SUP] which also causes melasma and darkened nipples. Fair-skinned women show this phenomenon less often than women with darker pigmentation.[SUP]citation needed][/SUP] Before it appears it may be more faintly visible as a white line.

Re: stretch marks

I think it’s all in your genes there’s no lotion / cream out there which can prevent you from acing stretch marks. Throughout my pregnancy I used regular lotion with Shea butter nothing fancy just regular lotion which I useed normally and alhamdullah I don’t have a single stretch mark. All my sisters don’t ave stretch marks from their pregnancies either. I think it’s our genes  alhamdullah
