How do u deal with stress in today’d fast-paced North American environment?
I run. I started doing this when I realized that I when I'm stressed, I get really anxious. My heart beats really fast, likes its pounding on my ribcage. I can't sleep, I can't eat. And if I eat it's the wrong stuff-- like fats and stuff. So I run.When you run, you get tired, and then you feel the calmness, and can think clearly about your next steps.

dedicate a time for yourself, just to wind down .. that is how I do that .. 30 minutes maybe .. reading or just gazing through TV or something like that ..

Talking about your worries with family and friends you trust helps a lot. So, does praying and keeping yourself busy (reading a book, shopping, pursuing a hobby, pursuing a project/interest, exercising, etc). Doing volunteer work or engaging in any activity in which you are helping others is known to alleviate depression and stress as you feel good about yourself. Getting enough sleep, taking a multivitamin, and eating properly help the mind and body deal with stress.
Also, many of things we worry about never take place. And realizing that u will get through the problems, that this is not a permanent state, and that everything happens for a reason can calm u down as well. Praying does bring relief and peace of mind though. It can help put things in perspective.

If I find myself stressed I find that namaz/dua work.
In addition to that, I usually like to surf the web like GS or listen to some of my favorite music.

^ DITTO! Can't believe I forgot that. Shame on me. I'm among chocolate's most loyal fans. It's alright in the form of ice cream and cakes......but ooooooh I ESPECIALLY LOVE it in the form of cookies and candy and brownies.
Which reminds me, I recently bought the Ghirardelli chocolate chip cookie mix and will bake some cookies tomorrow, IA.
And if any of you are brownie lovers, the Ghirardelli double chocolate brownies are to die for. They are so rich and moist and scrumptious. You buy it as a mix in a box, follow the instructions, and VOILA ....decadent brownies. And about the same price as the other brands!
Also, equally comforting for the soul are Chinese food (General TSO's chicken, crispy chicken, Sesame Chicken....yes all the chicken dishes are YUM) and Italian food (ravioli, ziti, lasagna).....Cheese, tomato sauce, and pasta are a threesome made in heaven!

If it's constant stress i.e bad work place environment, bad marrital or family issues, health problems than you need to eliminate/cope with that stress with some help.
If you are talking about run of the mill things like traffic, work life balance - ppl gave some excellent examples above.
Also have something to look forward to - weekend getaway, a dinner and a movie night something to help you get your mind off things.

i start reading (keeps mt mind active while i m reading ... so i dont think abt the stress).
talking to my family isn't an option (dont want to stress them out) so i talk to my best friend.

Grab some balls and squeeze them.
I always used to think that I could deal with stress, but in reality i dont really have a way to cope, i cry, eat chocolate, do all the things that every1 has mentioned, but i really dnt cope with stres well at all, Im hoping 2 to try yoga, mayb that wil help!!!
