stress management

what exactly are the best ways to deal with stress?

is locking yourself in a stall in some remote corner of the school and bawling your eyes out for 20 minutes effective stress management?

deep breathing, imaging ur happy place shud work...

or just engaging urself in other fun activites is perhaps the best way to take the stress off urself.

hhaha..when students talk about ‘stress’, it actually sounds quite cute. I am not saying that school doesn’t come with stress, but the level of stress one endures during professional life is quite different.

Have couple beers, and just try to relax :D..if that doesn’t work, there’s always a refer..:hehe:..on a more serious not, just go for a jog..you’ll feel better..

Everyone has different things to go through, it doesn’t mean that ones troubles are nothing compared to yours

btw, how those new dentures workin out for ya?

abdullah, beer is haram. Thank you very much.

I wouldn't necessarily get stressed out of troubles. If troubles are manageable then fine, you go out and fix them, if not, you move on. For myself, there are two types of factors which contribute to stress. Long term and short term. I would be stressed out if a project has gone way over the deadline, or something isn't working, and I have spent hours and hours multiplied by days in front of a computer. When stakes are much more real and higher, and a lot riding on what you are doing, then stress becomes a natural factor. Working on multiple projects, and managing different aspects can be extremely challenging. One thing helps in such situations is to be able to manage your time effectively. As long as you are making progress on daily basis, and you are able to keep up on multiple assignments, you are OK.

The other kind of stress is due to competitiveness. Knowing how the industry is progressing and what do you need to do to be in-sync. Who else is out there and providing the same kind of services that you are offering, and how to stay sharp and brilliant in your areas of expertise. Since I work in technology, one of the most challenging aspects is to constantly re-invent and be dynamic. Perhaps, I am in a critical phase of expansion, but it is tremendously demanding; although very rewarding, and exciting.. :)

So, in a nutshell, there's no way out. Only way is to have fun, and do the things you enjoy the most in life. I am religious when it comes to working out, and just getting a good sweat-out. It helps. Also, be passionate about what you're doing. Don't treat it as a liability. That way, it becomes fun, and easy to deal with. Okie..enough of my babbling..

dentures are fine now, gotten used to it :D well few more weeks to go..and no'mo'

In two weeks, I have three final projects for my art class to complete, 5 responses to some poetry crap for English crap, 5 poems I have to writemyself AND make 25 copies to distribute around to my classmates, research for an article, put together a compilation of research papers for our group presentation, the aforementioned group presentation, and 5 chapters for my art history final exam that I have to study extra hard for because I didn't do so hot on the midterm.

Oh yeah, and I also have to go to three different museums for three different classes and assignments.

but come December 10th...it'll ALLL be over...Ahhhhhh :)
