Re: strength of a character: what does it mean?
Peace
To have people do what you want and have them believe that they were the ones who thought of it in the first place.
Or ...
To be subdued by others and happy in that predicament

Actually, I prefer short opening posts. Long paragraphs sometimes are confusing and honestly, sometimes I don't have the attention span required to get the message...
Re: strength of a character: what does it mean?
^ my nephew has attention span problem, I fixed him. I am so proud.![]()

Peace Sister
I was merely answering the question. The word strength is one of those neutral words ... you know you don't really know whether it is good or bad and then we have the word 'character' ... so I needed to express the answer in a socially relative framework. Ethics was not considered here.
Re: strength of a character: what does it mean?
Assuming a few things;
Strength of character is the manifestation of an honest and strong adherence to high moral values benevolent to an individual and to the society.
Re: strength of a character: what does it mean?
i think its being confident enough not to hide behind a false connotation of yourself u want people to see... its about being comfortable in your own skin. Expressing yourself at the spur of a moment, without wondring how it will go down with those around you. Only the lucky ones have it.. im not one of them
Re: strength of a character: what does it mean?
To have a strong character is to atleast possess the three opposites of a hypocrite. They are:
When you speak, tell the truth.
When you make a promise, live upto it.
When you are trusted, do not betray it.
All the rest is add-on luggage to these three.

Re: strength of a character: what does it mean?
excellent, all.
thanks and best, Dushwari
Re: strength of a character: what does it mean?
Strength of a character: strong enough to be oneself? no matter what THEY say/think/do...
Assuming to tell naked truth and facing all consequences for being yourself, and living the way you decided it.
So first qualities of strong character: no lies, no secrets.
Strong characters don't compromise with social norms requiring faked friendships, faked smiles, greed and power games.
They might sometimes seem blunt or rude to those of weakest characters.
But they have also strength to avoid some conflicts, and hurting people, so they might smile, or somhow package the naked truth, in order to keep peacefull relationships with those weakest characters.

its a relative term when we trying to create distinction.
though normal minds try to base the definition on how faithful or infidel the person is, but in my dictionary its how well the person stands up after he/she falls.
Re: strength of a character: what does it mean?
u make absolutely sense, Chameleon.
how best a person stands up when the person falls.

Re: strength of a character: what does it mean?
Character = the sum of what a person has become.
Instilled in that character is the reaction a person has to every situation that is faced. The type of reaction to any situation is the strength of character.
