This only applies to NY’ers. Working in a financial industry I get big bonuses. Well this year I decided to buy a brand new SUV a Land Rover Discovery 2004 (I dont like 2005 shape). Well thinking that it is a SUV and can handle off-roading well, might as well go over a few pot-holes in NY. I was wrong, The pot-holes won. Since Pot holes are not covered under warranty, I ended up getting the bottom of the truck fixed adn re-built. Now calling a pothole, pothole, is a generous tern. The pot holes in NY are more like craters that we see/saw on Moon /mars. So my question is if NY is a rich state and txes the hell out of its citizens why is it that the pothole condition is the worst ever? I mean it looks and feels like as if Bloomberg (the mayor of NY) gave the contract (theka) to a Pakistani thekadar contractor).
Can anyone shed some light on that?
You raise a good point Brother Verizon. You need to learn to drive from Paki Cabbies who can smell a pothole from 2 yards and avoid it by changing lanes all of a sudden.
Taxes in NYC are not used for fixing potholes. That money comes from a separate pot, which is federally funded. Your City Taxes go to provide City services, eg., trash collection, police, subway, etc.
You can’t blame Bloomberg for city potholes or any other type of holes.
Re Post #4
Instead of going off-roading I decided to come to NYC. I learned my lesson and so did my pocket.
I have a question Madhanee Bhai, if the taxes are not used for public works, then what are they used for in the great multi-ethnic city of NY?
^^ thats another story. The wonderful city of NY charges extra for Large SUVs. Somehow tahnks to the comptroller in NYC Land Rovers are considered big.
You wana know what kind of services City provides for the taxes it collects. Are you ready? I hope you can hear me now:
Alphabetically, in order of importance.
Homeless services
Hospitals
Aging
Anti-Graffiti
Arts Commission
Buildings
Fire safety
Children Services
Cultural Affairs
……………
District Attorney
Economic Development
Finance
Education
……
This is just a partial list of the kind of services city provides to those who deserve it (I mean those who live inside city, and pay city taxes). City has 90 agencies, each dealing with a specific area.
We have the lowest property taxes in the region, yet we have some of the best schools in the country (actually in the world). Did I mention, education?
I hope you can hear me clearly.
But I do agree with you that city should have an agency dealing strictly with Pot.
Verizon, with your bonus, instead of buying a Land Rover, you should have bought a honda pilot and then adopt a street. If more big financiers did that..we wouldn't have roads that assembled a mullah's face.
Well I was showing my appreciation to the coalition of the willing and decided to buy a Land Rover that is actually owned by Ford.
Madhanee Bhai:The list is interesting, someone is getting richer by the day, since Anti graffitti has more priority than fixing road works.
Oh and I am glad that NYC has the lowest property tax. I guess us poor people in Westchester offset the low property tax that our brothers in NYC pay.
Why is DA on the list, I am sure we can outsource that to india and save a ton, I am sure India has top notch lawyers.
guess u have never been to michigan..at some places its more pot holes than road itself..hmmm actually i have always wondered too wat the hell happens to all the taxes
Welcome to the liberals my friend. When you elect people like Hillary who faint at the election news of Iraq .... you deserve all the potholes and than some. :)
In Dubai if you don't own a 4WD you suck...and we don't have pot holes either...and by chance even if there was one, you wouldn;t know...coz our wheels barely touch the road when we drive.
