The best game ever. 2 player wise. I was the reigning champion in my area.
The music was great, I have the original sountrack cd.
This game and shinobi are my all time favourites.
I would love to play anyone here at this game but sadly I don't like the lag involved in online gaming. I am a very modest person in day to day life. However in this game I would DESTROY you all! :)
After Streetfighter 2 Turbo/Hyper I went off it as I didn't like the newer characters they introduced.
Merc: Yeah some of the programmers of SF2 left Capcom to go to SNK and made the King Of Fighters series on Neo Geo.

Indeed the best game ever....back in the 90's. All the spin offs werent as good as thou!
We used to just stand there...and some kid used to say " bhai nikaal dain na" when they were dying...or when getting beaten! those were the days.
Chun li was hot man...especially if you made her to do her signature move...the on the ground spin kick!
The music was great.
And no Shinobi .....i was the best!!!!!
Shinobi another great game...brill music!
I think SF2 exists on xbox live somewhere!

Brother, if you are in Pakistan next time I come over I would track you down and beat you senseless at Streetfighter, but most arcades I saw in Pakistan had busted up joysticks :(
I am the most modest person I know, but when it comes to SF2 my modesty disappears. I hate to brag so I'll leave it at that.
I knew all the secret cheats, Guile freeze, handcuff etc which only the pros knew and wouldn't tell anyone. Magic throws etc etc.
I can share the original Streetfighter 2 soundtrack if any of you want it. You should be able to download it elsewhere but I actually bought it in 1992 before I even had a cd player! :)

Street Fighter 2 ( the original) not the lame clones had all sorts of moves ..thats where it got stupid!!!

All you needed was Sagat and let go of those Tigers high and low. And make sure you knew when to do the tiger uppercut if someone decided to jump over your tigers.
similar tactics could be used with Ryu. His dragon uppercut was even better, cuz it went through fireballs. Actually the dragon uppercut was the strongest move in the game. It even beat the tiger uppercut or the flash kick (by Guile)

Actually Kens Uppercut was better....coz it took away more energy from the opponent as compared to Ryu or sagat....although ken did have a lame "phirki"

So in the game "Street Fighter 2"....(some of you maybe to young to remember)...there was a move called the the dragon punch...where the main chracters..Ryu and ken..would fly up into the air do a twirl and jump back onto the ground. This was achieved by moving the joystiq diagnolly in a rapid movement!!!
In my day..in pindi...these move, for no apparent reason used to be called the "Pepsi".

If both players were chun li...the second player was normally in the pink...I think there was a button you could press to make her dress in pink too!

Ken's dragon punch was the best after Turbo was released since it travelled so much further across the screen, Ken and Guile were the best characters overall.
Guile was so strong they made him slightly weaker in every sequel since so many players complained in Japan.
I'll have to look for the SF soundtrack, it is the original world warrior soundtrack and it sounds AMAZING even now.
If I forget, please remind me in a few days STONECOLD and I'll look for it and share it.

I never got into the sequels coz they got silly...with ken, ryu, guile and others being able to project there ammos across the screen in the air ...

Most of those sequels with the airborne projectiles were illegal hacks, not done by Capcom.
Ken and Guile were the best but Ryu was the star of the game, it was based on him and Ken from Streetfighter 1 which not many people liked. It wasn't very good but 2 was the all time CLASSIC.
I can't believe there's a SF2 thread here, lol. I don't post much since many threads don't relate to me, but this one does. :)

I spent years playing this game that’s why I got good at it.
I looked through my cds and found the soundtrack.
You will need winRAR to decompress the file. Go to www.download.com to get winRAR, search for winRAR in the top box, install the program, then go to the folder you saved the music file in, right click and choose EXTRACT HERE. The file will then be decompressed.

Ryu’s stage is the best track, track 02. The music is just like in the original arcade game, the songs speed up at the end to make you feel the tension.
Let me know if you have any problems with decompressing the file.
