street cricket championships

okay, so in karachi they had tape ball tournaments, which i took part in and had a blast. it is like a whole diff offshoot of cricket in ways..comparable to the relationship indoor soccer has with soccer, and beach volley ball has with volley ball, or arena football with football.

it would be great to have worldwide tape ball championships.

and once we have that in place..

street cricket..

no pitch.. just asphalt..“foul areas” like windows, nalas and roof tops

i think that would be a blast

i knw its fun..... even i played street cricket with tape ball
its like smashing and wacking every ball

touch and go

Street Cricket, Kothaa cricket, Sehhaan cricket nothing is more compatitive than these forms of cricket…i have alot of memories with this kindaa cricket…When i was a 5th grader, me a few other friends used to play in the street..and there was this old person in our street who we used to call “Uncle Bomb” coz every time the ball used to go his Kothaa or ball hit his windows or door, he would just blast at us and would make us run away.:bummer: Often when we were playing in the Street and one of see him coming out of his house …one of the guys would shout" Challo Chaloo Bomb Aaa Geyaa Hay" and we would all run into other streets:dhimpak:… with he running behind us in his Dhoutee and Bunyaan “…Ohhh Marey Bachpan Key Din…”

while playing in my Sehhan, when i was a kid we had a rule and that would be that every time the ball would hit any of the plants that we had in our sehhan the batsman would be out. that rule was imposed by my sisters..and till they all got married was stricktly enforced…Good old days…:hula: there are alot of different stories related with street, Kothaa cricket that i can not even tell

I don't know about US, but here in Canada (Toronto, Mississauga) tape ball cricket is still famous. In summer, school's baseball net and in winter, school's Jim are already taken by DESI cricketer's and like in Karachi, they have "Mohalla Teams" and playing against each other. few private indoor cricket clubs are around too and there is a membership fees to join.

Mr.Fraudia, based on rate of increase in Desi Popultion in near Toronto areas, we might se some tapeball cricket action on asphalt soon :)

We have multiple leagues of tape ball cricket tournaments here. And these are all desi teams. Not sure how many of Brits, West Indians or Aussies have their own leagues. Its quick. Its fun. Its low cost and low injury too.
