Strange situation of my relative in Canada

Re: Strange situation of my relative in Canada

Although certain details seem a bit ridiculous in this situation, and I’m not familiar with how things work in Canada in regards to domectic violence etc…I will say that I can potentially see this happening (ie. the girls turning out to be a TOTALLY different person soon after marriage).

I actually know a Indian couple who is currently going through this. They met on Shaadi.com last year, got engaged within a few months, and married earlier this year. Heck hubby and I went to their wedding. Except in this case…the GUY turned out to be a lying piece of sh*t. Both highly educated with professional jobs. We met his wife through groom. Within 3 months of marriage, literally within a week TONS of secrets just came out. When things went south, she called me to get some help and since then A LOT of nasty, unbelievable details came out regarding the guy (including the fact that he has a 4 year old daughter!). Yet in all the years the my hubby and other mutual friends have known this guy, we had no idea that he had this totally creepy side to him!

So yea…weird things happen.

However, I do have a problem with the general statements above regarding girls. It’s not like all guys on matrimonial sites are angels themselves.

And just b/c a pretty, educated desi is single at 30, that doesn’t automatically mean that she’s a lying thief! Heck someone could turn this around and also pass judgment on your cousin. After all, if he’s such a great “catch” himself, then why did he have to turn to a matrimonial site at the age of 32 to find a wife?

The lesson here is that BOTH men and women need to be cautious. And for the love of God people, do not combine ALL finances as soon as the nikah papers are signed (especially when you haven’t know the person for too long). :smack: Don’t even get me started on how often this leads to issues.
