Strange but I *YAWN* a lot during any kind of prayer

Either reading quran or salat or just thinking about it. Is it just me?!

Re: Strange but I YAWN a lot during any kind of prayer

A very famous analogy given in this matter is following:

Consider two places you can sit on:

1- a bed full of fresh Roses
2- a bed full of thorns

Wouldn’t you feel sleepy on the first bed and eyes wide open on the second one?

: - )

in jammats we use to make fun of it and say that its the sakina (blessings) that make u YAWN.

Re: Strange but I YAWN a lot during any kind of prayer

I do too.
There is nothing strange about it. Reciting Quran or salat feels so serene that it almost makes one doze off

Re: Strange but I YAWN a lot during any kind of prayer

Funny… seeing this post up… I thought I was the only one with the yawning problem while praying…

Re: Strange but I YAWN a lot during any kind of prayer

Re: Strange but I YAWN a lot during any kind of prayer

zoro come on this YAWNING is too much

Re: Strange but I YAWN a lot during any kind of prayer

its boredom.

Mostly because we do not understand what we are doing. thats why knowing arabic is so important. When you talk to someone, and you know what u're talking about, u don't yawn.
Similarily, it means were doing worship dutifully and not passionately. I mean if we prayed passionately, we wudn't yawn once!

Also its sheytaan that makes us think its boring, and useless, and a burden to pray.

Re: Strange but I YAWN a lot during any kind of prayer

Yawning is from Shaytaan, so try to resist it as much as you can esp. during salah, reading Quran, etc.

Here’s a fatwa on it:

Re: Strange but I YAWN a lot during any kind of prayer

^ ur signatures are indeed one of my favourite aya in Quran

Re: Strange but I YAWN a lot during any kind of prayer

Just an addition to the top article:
While praying salaah, you should try to supress it (yawning) and keep your mouth shut. If you are unable to do that, you should cover your mouth with the fingers of your hand (excluding the palm). Use your right hand while in 'qayaam' and your left hand in all other positions. If you feel yourself yawning or getting distracted again and again during salaah, spit to your left three times (dry spit).

Re: Strange but I YAWN a lot during any kind of prayer

Yea I get like so sleepy after reading the first 5 pages at Moulana Saab. That's usually when I ask to use the bathroom as an exscuse to wash my face with water so I won't fall straight asleep.

It happens quite naturaly , like being in peace , it also shows that you are with Allah swt with your body and soul. Just don’t let that turn into drowsiness or sleep.
