Straightening Hair

Salaam
I was just hoping if anyone out there could help me.
I had my hair tested about 4 years ago to see if i could get it straightened using chemicals. So that it would last about a month. But when i got it tested they found that my hair started to burn.
As i am going to pakistan this year i wanted to get something done to my hair so i that i wouldn’t have to bother with it too much.
I was hoping if anyone would know if my hair would have changed for the better after these 4 years so that it wouldn’t burn when tested.
Thanx in advance

I had my hair straightened last year, actually relaxed, and it lasted for about 10 months. now its starting to go back to the original curly self.

I went to a really good salon downtown because i figured they would have the best things for hair. and nothing happened to my hair.

I would go to a really good salon and pay the extra just to make sure my hair wasn't going to burn. I'm not sure if you tried that already.

but your hair strengthening in the last four years...lets see...have you done anything to strengthen your hair? like use oil [as our mom's swear its the key], use shampoos that won't allow your hair to break easily, take a break on drying them sooo much?
well, if you have done some of the above, then perhaps your hair will be stronger.

I don't dry my hair with a hairdryer i let it naturally dry, and i'v always put oil on the ends of my hair to relax it ( i know it sounds pendu, but it works!) It is much better to feel than it was 4 years ago, because it used to look like Mel B's not it looks alot healthier.

I'm having Japanese Straightening done in July and I had to go for a consultation first. She looked at the condition of my hair to make sure everything would work out ok. You should probably visit the salon first to get a professional opinion. All the conditioning and oiling you're doing is really going to help.

whats japanese straightening and how much s it, how long will it last etc...etc..

Japanese straightening is also referred to by several different names, thermal reconditioning, Yuko system, magic straight...and probably others. But basically it alters your hair permanently to stay straight and withstand humidity. So hair is totally straight, shiny and frizz free for about 8-12 months until enough new growth reappears. One requirement is that they recommend you have 'virgin' hair with little to no coloring and damage. Prices vary. Top salons charge up to $900-crazy. But the smaller Korean, Japanese salons charge very low-with good results. I was quoted $220 because my hair has grown out quite long now.

It takes 3-5 hours depending on hair length. I think most major cities in the US do this type of straightening. Apparently its less damaging and leaves hair softer than traditional chemical relaxers. Where do you live? I can help you find a salon.

i live in wolverhampton, in the UK. it's near birmingham

saimanyc. where did u get it done from.. i wanna et it doen from NY n 220 doesnt sounds fine compared to hwat they charge

Ugly Sem, it's a shame you didn't post this a couple of months ago as up untill then the Toni & Guy Academy in Manchester were doing Yuko for free and needed models to learn on. The waiting list was around 18 months but it meant saving around £300 - £400. Unfortuntately the waiting list is now closed.

:O GUTTED

Well I won't rub salt in your wounds by telling you I got on the list just before they closed it. Oops......

Shahreen darling I thought you already had Yuko done on your hair?

I want to try this out but it sounds like it's too expensive, does it really last a long time?

Yeah I did get my hair Yuko'd already, twice in fact. But I'm on the waiting list now as by the time my turn's up then I'll need to get straightened again........it's nearly a two year wait.

How long did the last treatment last?

For ever. The hair that's been treated always remains straight, but obviously as your hair grows you'll end up with curly roots which is why you need to go back for top ups......which take just as long to do as a normal treatment.

Are there any other was hen that i could use to make my hair straight foe about 4 weeks?

You could try Xtenso by Loreal.....it semi permanant hair straightening and lasts for up to 12 weeks. It won't leave you hair poker straight but does get rid of frizziness and most kinks in the hair. Hence why the process only takes half an hour and costs around £50.

i found this n i think its worth trying
Fill up a medium-sized glass coconut milk(If you have long/thick hair, a medium-sized glass coconut milk may not be sufficient, increase the amount if so).

I recommend one lime for your first try with it (If it doesn’t work after one week, try two or three limes). Squeez out the juice and mix it with the coconut milk.

Keep it in the refrigerator until the top becomes creamy. Massage the mixture into your hair, then wrap with a hot towel for 30 minutes to an hour. Then rinse it out. You should shampoo/condition (it’s important to put conditioner in your hair after this treatment) after you do this.

Repeat 3x a week. Your hair will gradually straighten.

It’s not permanent, you would have to keep applying it every week.

n something I used, it worked but offcourse its not the same thing as getting it done in a saloon
here

n these different products

the thing with the coconut milk is interesting. But how/why will it straighten my hair.
I'll have to try it when everyones out, or they'll start telling me off :(
