Straight Talk for iphone 4s

I’m thinking about unlocking my 4s and switching to Straight Talk… $45/month for unlimited talk, text, data. I’m paying about $83/m for my single line right now :bummer:

Anyone have any experiences/thoughts/advice?

Re: Straight Talk for iphone 4s

cricket is also cheaper and they also offer 3g speed and iphone is going to be launch in few months on cricket carrier. jus sayin.

otherwise tmobile is not that bad choice if you are in family plan.

Re: Straight Talk for iphone 4s

Tmobile is good for family plans. For individual, Boost Mobile is also pretty decent.

Re: Straight Talk for iphone 4s

$83 with verizon ?! It matters if it is CDMA or GSM for you to switch to an appropriate network.

Re: Straight Talk for iphone 4s

My husband gets his cell bill payed by his employer, so that's why I'm trying to find a cheaper alternative for myself

I'm with AT&T...450 minutes w/rollover, 5000 minutes for nights and weekends & then data pkg is like $30 & 1500 text messages a month for $20....I get a 18% corporate discount for being a Realtor, but that basically covers the taxes and fees....my bill comes to $82 and some change every month

Re: Straight Talk for iphone 4s

You guys better pay some attention to the GSM frequencies. For instance the iPhone has only been released to work with the AT&T GSM frequency. When used with TMobile it doesn't give you 3g speeds. The best you get is Edge, which is 2g. It works, but very slow. Same thing with my old Nexus One which was on the Tmo network (they did have another version out for ATT). I later got rid of Tmo and once got an ATT sim for my visiting sister and the data speed just sucked.

Re: Straight Talk for iphone 4s

This.

Going with another carrier might be more economical, but all of your phone's features might not work the way they were designed to work. Further tweaking might be required on your end. And lets not forget if you accidently update to latest firmware, sometimes you'll be weeks/months without a jailbreak. You'll have a fancy ipod that could've made calls, but can't because it's no longer jailbroken/unlocked.

Re: Straight Talk for iphone 4s

^^ True.

My iPhone is with t-Mobile. The multi text sending feature doesn't work, the send image in text feature doesn't work either. But I'm not switching to AT&T because their plans are too expensive. We have a great plan with tmobile.

Re: Straight Talk for iphone 4s

hey i can help you with image text it's very easy i have my iphone with t-mobile and i can send multiple texts

Re: Straight Talk for iphone 4s

I used to be able to do that on my 3GS. I lost that feature when I upgraded to 4S. How do you do that? I'm not worried about sending images on text but I'd like to be able to send texts to multiple people.

Re: Straight Talk for iphone 4s

Go to the Settings app, and choose General → Network → Cellular Data Network. Under MMS, set:
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Leave Username and Password blank.
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/enc
MMSC Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Leave MMS Max Message Size blank.
MMS UA Prof URL: http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf
turn on your data roaming
after doing everything stated above just turn your phone off and on

Re: Straight Talk for iphone 4s

There is no APN.

I did General > Network > Cellular Data gives me only OFF and ON option. I have it ON.

There is a VPN if I scroll down which says Not Connected. If I click on it, it gives me the option to turn it ON. And if I turn it on, it still doesn't give me any of the options above.

Anyway, I had done some research on this issue. Found out that for my unlocked & jailbroken iPhone, I need to buy an app called tetherme from Cydia in order to get the APN feature. I haven't done that yet because it wasn't bothering me enough until I came to this thread :D. I should do it now.

Re: Straight Talk for iphone 4s

no don't buy anything from anybody i didn't know it was broken go cydia add cydia.pushfix.info as a source then from that source download iPhone 4 mms fix its ok i know you got a 4S but it will still fix it

Re: Straight Talk for iphone 4s

^^ Oho. It was so hard to read your sentence(s) without punctuations. :bummer: But thank you.

Re: Straight Talk for iphone 4s

So basically just grin and bare it with AT&T's sky high rates, huh?

Re: Straight Talk for iphone 4s

LOL. Yes, use a good toothpaste though :D
