Re: Story Sarah, Hager, Prophet Abraham & their sons
the story of Abrahem is but really moral full.
Re: Story Sarah, Hager, Prophet Abraham & their sons
Not according to the Bible, maybe according to Islamic scriptures.
Gen.16 Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian maidservant named Hagar; so she said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my maid-servant; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai said…He slept with Hagar and she conceived…So Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave the name Ishmael to the son she born.
Re: Story Sarah, Hager, Prophet Abraham & their sons
I thought Hagar was a slave/servant as well.
Re: Story Sarah, Hager, Prophet Abraham & their sons
^^ There is a difference in opinion. One group claims the status quo: Hagar was a slave girl. While other believe that she was not but rather a member of a elite family. Either case, Jews only slander her.
Re: Story Sarah, Hager, Prophet Abraham & their sons
Quoting from Bible has its perils. Lets stick to what Quran says and that is Abraham sacrificed Ishmael, right? If Bible says that Abraham did not go to Mecca ever we dont have to believe it as we know that the Kaa'ba itself was built by Abraham.
The other part of discussion is who was the mother, Sara or Hagar. I dont have any clue to it so please enlighten me on the subject, any one!

I think Old man, that was a jealousy of one wife to another. Nothing more
Re: Story Sarah, Hager, Prophet Abraham & their sons
read Surah Safaat in Quran.
thanks,

Re: Story Sarah, Hager, Prophet Abraham & their sons
Quote me the text in bible where it is mentioned that Issac was about to be sacrificed
Re: Story Sarah, Hager, Prophet Abraham & their sons
Dushwari, I read it and I don’t see Ishmael’s name. I know that Islam teach it was Ishmael that was almost sacrificed, but thought it would be better documented.
Re: Story Sarah, Hager, Prophet Abraham & their sons
It is from Genesis 22, and various other scripture also alude to the issue.
Re: Story Sarah, Hager, Prophet Abraham & their sons
Can you quote those verses here for our knowledge as i am not sure how to search it or you may paste a link as well.
Re: Story Sarah, Hager, Prophet Abraham & their sons
It is a whole chapter but I will summarize.
God told Abraham to take his only son Isaac to the region Moriah and sacrifice him. I suppose that Isaac is mentioned as Abraham’s only son because (1) Hagar and Ishmael has already be send away in chapter 21, and (2) Isaac is the only son of God’s promise to Abraham. Abraham took Isaac, two servants and wood. On the third day God showed Abraham where he had to sacrifice Isaac. The two servants stayed behind and Abraham proceeded with Isaac up the mountain. When questioned by Isaac where the lamb is, Abraham resonded “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son”.
Abraham then proceeded to build the altar, arranged the wood on it and bound Isaac on top. "Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. But the angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!..Do not lay a hand on the boy.” Abraham then saw a ram caught in a thicket by its horns and replaced Isaac with the ram as an offering.
"So Abraham called that place “The Lord will provide”. God then reafirmed His covenant with Abraham. The covenant was w.r.t. Abraham’s decendants from Isaac and also a prophetic word w.r.t. Jesus that would come. The whole story is pointed forward to the day when God would also offer His only Son.

I think this is enough as i previously thought it is Quran which says the only son. Now i realize that Bible also says that. Rest all is twisted logic. Promise or not, i have no idea why only son is mentioned if Issac is mentioned by name. That is why Quran says that previous books have been changed / altered. The Alterer changed the name but forgot to change the word "only son". Why they changed the name is simple is that Hazrat Muhammad was from Ismael's kin.
Re: Story Sarah, Hager, Prophet Abraham & their sons
You mean that the Jews knew more than 1500 years before the prophet Muhammad that he will come and therefor changed their scriptures?
Re: Story Sarah, Hager, Prophet Abraham & their sons
exactly, that has what been said in the Quran, that the Jews Recognized Muhammad just like they recognize their sons, because all the prophecies for the one they had been waiting for had been there in Muhammad (p.b.u.h) however only due to jealousy that as to why he has not come in Bani Israel i.e. Children of Issac they had refused to accept it.
Re: Story Sarah, Hager, Prophet Abraham & their sons
They refused to accept from day one that any nation can be better than the children of Issac and therefore they altered their books to demean Ishmael. All the prophets have come down from Issac till Issa in the chain of Issac and the last prophet had to come into kin of Ismail. They had the prophecies but erased many of them. This has caused inconsistencies like you have seen above.
