the point is, what did pakistan and for that matter India learnt by mistakes like Khalistan, NE insurgency by all these event, answer is nothing.
Khalistan could appear on map, but it was Benazir Butto who stopped ISI and forced it to provide key details to Indian gov't.

If that had happened, does that ended all the problems of Pakistan. We need to look at our own problems and their solutions rather wishing for disintegration of other country.

it was not the disintegration of another country, they were facing same situation like EP were back in 1971. Creation of Khalistan would bring more peace in the region. At least Kashmir gets its independence. Pakistan also live with more friendly neighbor (khalistan).

I don't think that conditions in EP were comparable to East Punjab and Khalistan movement. We made people of EP realise that we didn't own their language and culture from the first day. For us they were Machi bhaat khane wale lower class people, who didn't have right to speak for their rights. If Khalistan situation was that severe, the movement would not have died just because of some exchange of information by BB.

I think thats not off topic, its covered under story of Pakistan. May be we don't want to discuss our mistakes, but the fact is Bangla Desh came into being due to our own mistakes. We can't get ourselves free by just saying that it was due to Indian army. :@:

The best time Sikh insurgent had was time of jarnail singh bhidranwale, Indira wanted to attack pakistan then but Zia went on with the peace offensive effectively ruling out the option for Indira to attack:), ZAB couldn't match Indira, benazir was no equal:)

Khalistan in its entire thought would have dependent state on either India or pakistan, and it is Kashmiri muslims who want their azadi not kashmiris, because we kashmiri pandits, still want to remain Indians:)

In EP revolt within Pak army started much before actual war started while in khalistan case few section of sikh regiments revolted only after operation blue star, there was no large scale defection by sikhs like bengalis and infact it was sikh general and sikh police officer who eliminated the insurgency.

STA, don't worry about topic when it comes to learning, the movement was eliminated by KPS Gill, the supercop of Punjab police, as he weeded out terrorism more effectively than army could, he proved to Indians that if police decides they can be +1 of army:)

Indeed it was great performance by the police, Punjab police under KPS Gill worked so wonderfully that they tracked every terrorist and brought them out, the intellgence gathering was better than army could have got. Police did better than army in Punjab.

A little off topic, but how do you see current performance of Punjab police in India. In Pakistan, Punjab police is more badnaam than Muni badnam :p

Maybe the Kaur can correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think the current Punjab police is as strong as it once was under KPS Gill. The best state police now are Kerala and Tamil Nadu police . Their police force has beed trained by advanced police training schools like Scotland Yardand the World Police Academy of Canada. The Tamil Nadu state police is at the forefront of advancement with the Tamil Nadu Police Academy which now is seeking university status. Kerala Police is also the first police force in South Asia, to adopt community policing for effective and pro-public friendly initiatives and action. Of course Maharashtra is not far behind. There is the famous Mumbai Encounter squad with encounter specialists like Police Inspector Daya Nayak and Sachin Waze who have wiped out a significant chunk of the underworld from Mumbai.
