Not sure if I’ve spelled it correctly but Waqia-e-Harra was also a dark chapter in Muslim history where thousands of Muslims were slaughtered at the hands of Yazid’s army in Madina. Can someone shed some light on this issue or perhaps provide a link that discusses this incident, prologue epilogue etc, in detail.
Re: Story of Harra (pronunciation??)
and masjid-e-nabwi was used as a stable for horses.Yazid's revenge on the medinans for not supporting uthman ...he commented his slain forefathers in Badr must have been proud of him seeing his revenge on the khazraj

Re: Story of Harra (pronunciation??)
Dear Brother: In Badr Prophet Mohammad (Pbuh) plan was to control the Water wells till the end of war, so he did it, when Abu Sufyan Army stayed three days thirsty, then the following were killed by
Imam ALi (as) and Hazrat Hamza (as) and so on, where abu sufyan son and other relatives were killed,
Therefore when Grandson of Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) was martyerd as revenge , and Zayid (Lannat ualllahe) said: I wish my grandfathers alive to see that i took revenge, which they were dreams for,
and Yazid (Lannat Ullahe) destroyed MAjid nabiwi and Byte tu ALLAH,

Re: Story of Harra (pronunciation??)
just mentioning some names makes them forefathers of yazid????
i only know of utbah bin rabi'aa to be the father of yazid's grandmother, how r the others related....
also, clarify if the statement was issued on the death of Hussain (ra)as healtymind says or at the event of attacking madina as das reich says....
Re: Story of Harra (pronunciation??)
It was the aftermath of Karbala..a time and moment often forgotten by both Shias and Sunnis. The Holy Ka’ba was burnt down as the mercenary army of Yazid beseiged the two Holy Cities.
It’s mentioned in passing here Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr - Wikipedia
Re: Story of Harra (pronunciation??)
Utbah b Rabia father of Hind
Walid b Utbah brother of Hind
Hanzalah b abi sufyan uncle of yazid
all were killed in Badr on the side of Kuffar
last two by Ali [as] and first one by Ubayda b Harith [ra] also a hashimite
Re: Story of Harra (pronunciation??)
^that sounds accurate to me
Re: Story of Harra (pronunciation??)

^ might be ...but there are many good people amongst banu ummayyah as well like abu hudhayfa b utba[ra] , muhammad b abuhudhayfa[ra] , khalid b sa'eed [ra] and umar b abdul aziz[ra]
Re: Story of Harra (pronunciation??)
There is still not much information here. Anyone else shed some light?
Re: Story of Harra (pronunciation??)
little is avalible online unfortunately as the conflict was largely between ummayyads vs. zubayrids [pro-uthmanid]+ kharijites [anti-uthmanid]+ some Alid factions united in their common hatred of damascus
in other words the sectarian lines are not as prominent than for instance as in karbala ...so its value in sectarian arguments is rather limited
Re: Story of Harra (pronunciation??)
The first time i read anything about it was in Philip Hittis history of the Arabs and a few books on Islamic history.
Re: Story of Harra (pronunciation??)
^ the story of the 2nd fitna is in a way even more tragic than the 1st one ...lots of blunders by anti-ummayyad alliance
had musab b zubayr and amir mukhtar joined togather , had the kharijites and abdullah b zubayr satyed togather the story of Islam would have been very very different .....
but Alas hajjaj b yusuf finished them off one by one taking advantage of their infighting
