Re: Storis, Stories and Stories
what u consider authentic is considered unauthentic by others....
and what u believe as a fact is considered a story by others....
as long as its something to do with history, and that too about something that has so many different versions, u can compel people to stick to one story....

What da?
Political correctness aside, on what basis do you say that? Using that logic, nothing is authentic. People's unwillingness ( either because of arrogance or sheer stupidity ) to accept truth/authentic sources/logic is not anybody's fault but theirs.
Anybody can come along and compel you to believe something which isn't really true or authentic for that matter. **There is a fine line between what is authentic and what is not authentic **and I don't think taking the "political correctness" approach to keep everybody happy is a good idea or a realistic one to say the least.
Even at times of the Prophet (pbuh) Kufaar KNEW that Prophet was true but they didn't believe, because:
-Arrogance
-Not being able to let go of family traditions
-Didn't want to let go of what their forefathers practiced
-Did not want to let go of what they are taught when they were young
-stupidity
And those who believed... were not compelled. Prophet told them, I am messenger of God, believe me or perish in hell. His miracles and his honesty and other factors have also played a part. Compelled people don't create greats like Bilal, Umar, Abu Bakr, Ali, Uthman and other greats that lived and helped Islam get on its feet. Compelled people don't give up their lives just like that for something, compelled people don't keep on dealing with what early Muslims had to go through at the hands of Kufaar-e-makkah.
It wasn't a matter of if prophet is authentic or not, he was - some people were just affraid of admitting it and losing their status. Even today people are afraid to say the truth because it is going to offend someone or be harsh on their "opinion." When it involves truth, opinions don't matter.
