storing lettuce

i buy the lettuce that comes in bulk in places like costco or sam’s club and i love salads but after 2 or 3 days it just starts spoiling and i feel like i wasted my money

how can i eat salad for every meal in order to use it up before it spoils, so i want to know what you all do to store lettuce so it lasts for atleast a week and a half or at most 2 weeks

Re: storing lettuce

Don't use a metal knife to cut lettuce, this makes the leaves turn brown easily. Tear them instead. Put the unused lettuce leaves in plastic wrap and store in the coolest part of your fridge......top shelf toward the back. Don't store lettuce with fruits like apples, pears, bananas, because they emit chemicals that turn lettuce brown (interesting...didn't know about this). You can try sprinkling lemon juice on top of the leaves. Lemon juice is used to prevent several fruits and veggies from browning.

Re: storing lettuce

I found out if I wrap my lettuce in paper towels in a Tupperware type bowl it will last a long time. I think the paper towels absorb the moisture...so it will last longer and won't stick to the plastic bag & rot

normally when I buy lettuce or any greens...I wash em..rinse em.. and wrap them with a paper towel and then put in the crisper part of fridge

wow thanks a lot for the suggestions, i'll try them out

the paper towel idea is something i use for cilantro so it might work for lettuce and veges too
