Stories that you heard...

I was around 8 when i read the about the jang in which Hazrat Ali took part…there was this sentence he said on the battlefield before striking his enemy… i still remember up till now..“Main Ali hoon…mayree ma nain mera naam haider rakha hai…main shear hoon”…something like that…“I am Ali…my mom named me haider…I am a lion”…at that time i was just a kid …knew little about Islam…knew little about Shiasim…infact had a kids’ mind…but this sentence affect me a lot…*shrugs…I don’t know

Then the story of the Prophet(pbuh) regarding the non-muslim woman throwing rubbish on him whenever he walked passed her residence…and one day she didn’t do that and so our Prophet(pbuh) when to see why…and found she was sick…and so he helped her…she was so touched knowing about after all she had done to him…she turned into a muslim…khatain hain kay Islam spread by the sword?..Hmmm…this story makes me think…:smooth:

And then other about Hazrat Ali again…only after his death the world came to know that he had provided a shelter for a lepor in an advanced stage of the disease. The shelter was outside the town, he used to go there daily, dress his wounds, feed him with his own hands(because the lepor had lost his hands), wash him, put his bed in order and carry him out of the shelter for little time, so that he may get fresh air. Accidently relatives and friends of Hazrath came across this shelter and found a lepor in it, learned his history and told him Hazrath was murdered and they just then buried him. The news so effected the poor cripple that he died on the spot.

Do any incident or event or story that you heard long ago…or now…affect you…makes you think…makes you wonder…makes you say subhannaaallahhh…

Share it…I wanna hear too…

heh, nice thread Little Human  :k: i would also be interested to read these types of stories. The ones that i read were from the Islamiyat books we were taught from, grades 2-7, in Sheikh Khalifa Pakistani School (Abu Dhabi). (And just incase anyone is wondering about the accuracy of the stories, the books were approved by both the Pakistani and UAE govts. :halo: :o).

There are a lot of stories that stick out with me. Do you remember that one about a man in Makkah one day who saw an elderly lady carrying an extremely heavy load, towards her home? She was carrying it by herself and struggling with it. The man walked upto her (they were both strangers to each other) and asked her whether she needed any help to carry it. The lady was so happy and said she would be extremely grateful for any help; as the two started walking, the elderly lady started talking to the man. During that time, Islam ka naam shroo hi hua tha, and there was a great deal of persecution against the Muslims. Since she really liked the young man, the elderly lady warned him kai there was a ‘jadoogar’ going around whose name was Muhammad and he was a liar who was going around spreading new ideas about a horrible religion (Nauzubillah). The elderly lady warned him to stay away from him. Of course, the man himself she was talking to was Prophet Muhammad (may God’s peace and blessings be upon him); woh pooray rastay suntay gayen to the elderly lady’s story - without uttering a word in return. She stated many negative things about him. Finally they reached her house, and Prophet Muhammad (may God’s peace and blessings be upon him) lay down the load that he was carrying and set it by her door. The lady asked him, ‘Beta abhi tak tau main nai tumhara naam bhi nahin poocha. Tum kaun ho?’ When he told her who he was, she was astonished - and ashamed. According to the story i read in my Islamiyat book, woh aurat Musulman ban gai thi after that - just based upon what she had observed of the Prophet’s personality.

i have lots of other stories that left an impression upon me when i was younger; i’ll come back and post more in this thread later Insha’Allah

Re: Re: Stories that you heard…

Its really inspiring…beautiful. The Prophet SAW is Rehmat-ul-Lilalameen. No doubt. I never heard of this waqiaa but have read many others like this one. Thanks for sharing.

ArmMughal…I agree with you…it should have been explicit about the ‘gifted’ part. I explained this to Tanhaiyyan in private. Thanks for your concern.

Re: Re: Stories that you heard…

:k:…i have heard of it somewhere similiar

Others…where are your stories?.. kuch na kuch tu sona do…:frowning:

yeah.. i was so fond of them.. so you can imagine my chagrin when i discovered later on that the majority were only Zoroastrian/Persian fables and myths from the pen of Persian storywriters or court scribes and were of little or no historic value..

Nevertheless they make for good storytelling.. i think for their entertainment value, the stories can stay provided we strip them of the names of religious personalities.

The story of the good Samaritan comes to mind.
