not all mudersaah graduates are freaks. a rare example of a good mudersaah graduate is recep tayyip erdogan - the current prime minister of turkey. erdogan heads AKP which is the largest islamic party in turkey. under erdogan, whose wife and daughetr both do hijab, AKP won a landslide victory in the last election and is on the verge of repeating its victory in elections today.
so what makes erdogan different from your average pakistani mudersaah product who probably is unable to calculate 5% of 100?
answer: turkish mudersaahs were subjected to reform under ataturk and as a result now teach a whole range of subjects. erdogan himself went to university after mudersaah where he studied economics. ataturk forced islamic establishment to reform because he was tired of mullahs holding back turkey’s progress. as in pakistan today, mullahs resisted all attempts of reform under ottoman empire with net result being that turks almost lost their country to europeans who would have divided turkey into four had ataturk not defeated them.
lesson for pak from turkish experience is that mullahs can be only reformed through the barrel of the gun. mullah influence will wither slowly with the continued economic progress of pak. ultimately people will get used to the freedom that comes with development and in turn will resist mullah control. in the short run, pak is better of with controlled democracy because undiluted democracy of the 1990’s kind will only result in chaos which in turn will empower mullahs. also no pakistani politician has the vision to implement right kind of reform nor does any politician have the balls to take on the mullahs. and pakistan cannot progress until mullah hold is removed over the awam which is exactly what ataturk did. mullahs ultimately have to be dragged kicking and screaming into modernity.
Rare example says it all that Mad-house-russahs are producing dimwit Mullahs at best, and terrorists at worst. And yes, every once in a while you may get a good apple like Erdugan.

partially agree with this analysis. Madrassa-tul-Arabia board is miserable failed to update their curriculum. And something needs to be done urgently.
However Pakistani madhouses are not reformable. So Turkish example won't work.
The best solution is to transfer all the students and madhouse buildings to the district education boards. These places can become public schools. Mullahs can teach a course or two on "deeniyat". The rest of the teachers should be hired to teach useful courses. And all the teachers in these schools should be employees of state education department.
antiobl: i agree that the ideal situation would be to require every single student to attend a regular school and to introduce islam as a major from univeristy level. by sending children to mudersaahs at a very young age, parents end up controlling the destiny of the child for the rest of his or her life. also its beyond the capability of young children to understand a complicated muzhub like islam. realistically though i dont see major changes happening to religious education because mullahs are going to go bananas over any attempts for reform. in the short run only small steps will work.

Kids go their learn by heart the Quran without actually understanding what they are reading i.e. dont understand any Arabic. thats probably because the minister has never taken more interest in any madrassa other than using the toilet. madrassas are in the wrong hands because those with power shun the religion. when you ignore something, it often comes back to bite you.
well not all of them risc but it is very much in common practice but on other hand how many of us would let our sisters/duaghters to marry a Mullah or payishEmam of a mosque ?

i think they teach students to wear to ankle trousers etc. the point of islam is to live your life according to the quran and sunnah. this what a madrassa should excel at
of course pakistan as a country has to take responsibility for misusing these instituitions for military purposes (to die). pak patriot it'd be much better for you to concentrate on this point and call for the required redemption now that project strategic depth is coming to a close.
the seek and destroy mission is not what pakistan needs. the ideologies are everywhere mixed within the unsuspecting populous. if someone is not an immediate threat then they should allowed to live and find peace within themselves. the directional change from the whole country (if implemented) will carry many people over to a foreign friendly mentality
