Stomach biopsy to check for coeliec disease

Hi, i wonder if u can help?
last couples of weeks ago i had a blood test to check for coeliec disease and my gp said the results were showing high at 8.6 but she needs to refer me to hospital to get it properly checked out via a stomach biopsy procedure.
im really worried to go for this stomach biopsy test as it seems really uncomfortable and she advised they will put me to sleep throughout the test to keep me at ease but im still unsure to go for the whole test.
is this biopsy test really necessary? i thought the symptoms im getting like: tiredness/lack or energy, diaroheaa, muscular aches n pains, dry dandruff hair etc are due to just usual weakness as im online 40kg, and have been taking levothyroxine for my under active thyroid since childhood/ and taking vit d/ferrous sulphate all these years and trying to concieve has been a real struggle so she thinks i might be suffering from coeliec disease too as i might not be absorbing all the nutrients what what i eat. shes shocked to know im eating normally at home and still living, a blood test for coeliec was already done back in 2005 which was 11.2 but was never followed up and i didnt know about it. she said its better if i go for gluten-free foods etc but its very limited choice in our asian type cooking. can anyone on gupshup plz advise me what i shud do and anyone who already suffers from it or been for a biopsy? any advise will be highly appreciated. thank you.

Re: Stomach biopsy to check for coeliec disease

I have not suffered from this, but have a very close friend who does have Celiac disease. Get the biopsy done. The only way they can properly diagnose celiac disease is to check and see if their is damage to the villi in your intestine which is preventing your body from absorbing nutrients.

And you do have to go on a Gluten free diet, than its what's best for your health. It's hard but not impossible. Celiac disease can mess with your menstrual cycle too, which will definitely make it harder to conceive. In my friends case, going gluten free has made a tremendous change for the better in her quality of life.
