stomach band

Salaam all;

I heared about a rubber kinda band wich you can put around your stomach ( through a surgery)
and it suppose to make your stomach smaller, so you can eat less the before, and then loose wazan. and if you come to your natural wazan you can let it removed.

anyone know about this thing?
anyone tried it?
is there any harm using this?

Ive heard of it too. I think Sharon Ossbourne has had that done. It results in you feeling full after eating very very little and thus you loose weight.

Dont know of its side effects.

Another way is where they staple the stomach and make it smaller....

Personally...stay away from it. Wanna loose weight ? then buy yourself some light weights(maximum 15-20 pounds..dont wanna build muscles now do ya ? :P) and do aerobic workouts with them... Weight lifting burns more calories then regular aerobic excersize

w’salam hanie i dont know abt any that is put in surgically yaar, but i have heard of one that u can wear on ur waist and exericse and it makes the stomach flat…

lekin i wont recommend these things, they r too artificial and seem to be temporary and might have side effects which we might not realise..

yaar why dont u try rope skipping, and sit ups, they r really good for this

good luck :flower1:

Hanie from what I know, this is not something a person can get done because they feel like it. The weight loss to be achieved has to high, and the person clinically obese. And even then from what I know you would need to show you can lose some weight before surgery takes place.

As with any other surgeries, risks are involved, and with being obese, the risks are magnified.

It should only be used as a last resortand most doctors will not refer you for this unless they are totally satisfied its the right thing for you, this is the case in the UK at least. Its better to embark on weightloss through controlled eating and exercise. Although obviously it needs willpower it is doable without a doubt.

HTH :)

Hanie dear thats a kind of risky operation in which they try to reduce the size of one's stomach ,thats an open procedure and they dont apply it on every patient. It is mainly restricted for those who have risk of developing other serious diseases like heart diseases etc.

There is no harm in sticking to safe methods to lose weight like a lille bit dieting along with exercise. At least you dont have to suffer from health risks by such innocent activities :)

stomach band!

hanie, belieme there could be much better ways to watch your weight other than this funky “stomach band” idea.

stomach band, eh? i'd never let any foreign synthetic object to be placed into my body, especially for weight loss purposes, unless the weigh issue is so severe as to be fatal.

You are talking about a Gastric Bypass procedure. Yes the stomach is made smaller, and you get full faster, they make the stomach about the size of your thumb.

You can't just get a Gastric Bypass cuz you're too lazy to work out, eat less, and lose weight normally. Like UKWALI said, you have to be not only clinically obese, but extremely overweight before doctors will even consider this option. Even then you have to go through a fairly rigorous screening process.

God gave you arms and legs, I'm assuming you or this overweight person is not handicapped in any way, just thank God for what you have and try to loose weight normally, there is no easy way out, trust me, you HAVE to work hard. There are no pills, no miracle drugs, nothing, NOTHING works but exercise and diet control. Eating desi food morning, noon, and night doesn't help either. Consider changing your menu to a lighter kind of cooking.

God willing you will be able to do it, but you really need to have the will to do it. Good luck and God speed.

Maniac.
I am already doing excercies and work outs.
I was just gaining information about the topic.

Irem.
no body recommend these things, but it is an option for people who tried everything else. :-)

Ukwali.
jee here doctors let you try every healthy thign to do first, and then if there are major health risks then they do such things, as said here above, I wanted to know more about this option.

kashish.
thank you for your 2 cents, I wasnt going to do it, I think most off the people who read ym topic assumed that I was on my way to do this.

lahorea,
yeah, but now harm in informing about other options as well.

Moona
yeah if its a risk it can be a choise to do this.

aahmed;
I wasnt assuming I am going to do this, and how do you know if I am not doing other things as well or not? couse you dont know.
its logic that one tries all other things before this, otherwhise no one give permission to do such things here.
thank you anyway for your comments.

Re: stomach band

Wow....that sound harsh..but does actually works and stomach shrinks to a size of a thumb so you eat very little but does stretch after a few years..

Re: stomach band
