Re: 'Stockholm Bomber'
He got what he deserved. A painful death and time in hell. If you violate the tenets of Islam, you deserve much worse.
Re: 'Stockholm Bomber'
What a maniac!
He wrote "he married in 2004 and had two daughters and wanted to marry again and his wife agreed to that".
Re: 'Stockholm Bomber'
Archangel, "If you violate the tenets of Islam, you deserve much worse" - his message wasn't so different from that. :P
Hareem, I'm laughing at the second marriage thing, the scoundrel! :D
Re: 'Stockholm Bomber'
I think Luton Mosque should've reported him, but then again the idea of sending a father of two behind jail bars or something as bad as that is not something everyone would easily agree upon. So I really believe religious organisation and government should come up with a plan to take care such lost souls before they do something dangerous out of despair and anger. I'm pretty sure your moderate Mosque would really start playing an active role in identifying and seperating extremists, if government ensures them that they won't necessarily be punished in dark cells rather treated like any other solider suffering from PTSD or things like that.

Context is everything in this regard. I refer to suicide itself. He refers to hotties he doesn't have a chance with :p
Re: ‘Stockholm Bomber’
Yes definitely. I agree with you completely. :k:

How 1984 of you.
Re: 'Stockholm Bomber'
How 1984 of you.
Err, what?
Re: 'Stockholm Bomber'
Err, what?
I guess he was talking about George Orwell's 1984.
Re: 'Stockholm Bomber'
Correct. 1984 is a book set in the future where the people are policed by Big Brother. In the book children report their parents in for unacceptable behaviour. Its a virtual police state where everybody is guilty until proven completely and utterly innocent. If there is any doubt at any point they are tortured to ensure that they comply. This is the book that has the famous scene where the protagonist is tortured till he believes he sees 4 fingers when in reality there are only 3.
The idea of the state and institutions policing people like the thought police is abhorrent.

Gotta love socialism. As true as that may be a "thought police" is better than having crazies blow themselves like this guy did. Though I wouldn't really call thought police, active- protectors- of- society if put diplomatically.
The crazies serve as a threat to society. In a school setting teachers are to report threats made by students, in some neighborhoods you have signs that read "we report all suspicious activity". Do you see a semblance? And are such actions made by teachers and neighbors wrong in your opinion?
Re: 'Stockholm Bomber'
I am sorry there is no evidence that the creation of the "Thought Police" is better than having crazies blow themselves up. The very notion of a thought police is against the very values of democracy. Now if you wish to forgo a democratic system, then the concept of the thought police should probably work. The thought police target ordinary citizens and will be based on racial and social stereotyping. Both concepts again not supported by democracies.
Community security is by no means related to the notion of the thought police. If community security racially profiles you, they are in violation of the law. Lastly in the case of a thought police you target average and normal citizens. Its merely a cheap way to not do a job properly. Proper intelligence, coupled with proper training is what is needed. Most vets from Iraq and Afghanistan consistently complain about lack of proper equipment and training to do their jobs properly. If that is the complaint from those who risk their lives, who is really dropping the ball?
Re: 'Stockholm Bomber'
Don't take everything literally mon ami. To simplify it: you either restrain the activity of those who wish to kill you and themselves (and you're fully aware of their intentions) or you leave them be in the name of freedom and kabloommmm.
Do realize that the thought-police is Orwell's imagination of what he thought the future would hold, so please do not mix up reality and fantasy as my brain tends to get confused.
I take it you view my examples as "common security". Does common security exclude what a person wishes to do even if he may cause harm?
Re: 'Stockholm Bomber'
This has nothing to do with Wikileaks' Assange being extradited to Sweden according to media's version of reality but in the actual world it has every to do with it. Sweden revealed it's just another tentacle of the US administration, and has no neutrality percieved or otherwise. And as with any US puppet has an unlimited capacity for false flag terrorism!
Re: 'Stockholm Bomber'
Blackforest the beauty of Orwell's work was not the literature itself, but the thoughts behind it. The greatest threat to our freedom and dignity are not the actions taken against them but the thoughts that these actions are acceptable.
