Stippling brush

What is so special about a stippling brush? If I buy any powder foundation I think I might need one of them as they are mentioned quite a bit on youtube.
I am all for using the right brush for the right thing, I already use MAC brushes, and how mich is a MAC stippling brush? I wonder if I can get away with one from The Body shop

Re: Stippling brush

You don't have to but I have the MAC 187 which I use for SFPowder. I prefer the finish I get with this brush but I used to use a regular powder brush. I had this brush anyway for liquid foundations and mineralize skinfinish.

The 188 is a smaller and slightly cheaper version.

Re: Stippling brush

Oh btw the guy in the video that M_was_here posted wasn’t using a stippling brush by the looks of it. Looked more like a flat-ish powder brush and he was just using circular buffing motions.

I think it was this:
G5552-4mm Powder & Liquid Brush round/angled [H2272] - $45.00 : HAKUHODO USA, High Quality Japanese Makeup Brushes

Re: Stippling brush

I have a MAC foundation brush already it’s this one

MAC Cosmetics UK | Face | 190 Foundation Brush

I hope I can use it with any powder foundation I buy, it was quite pricey and would be a shame to not use it anymore. I only ever used it for applying liquid foundation which I no longer use.

Re: Stippling brush

No I don't think a flat brush like this is appropriate for powder.

Re: Stippling brush

YAY, Stoppit! I love that you linked the Hakuhodo brush. I am saving up for an order of these brushes which is why I’m on a no-buy, ahem.

@Mrs_NM:

A stippling brush is not going to be good for powder foundation—at ALL! You need a stiff brush with some give. A goat-hair brush is perfect. MAC’s #168, 109 or a smaller kabuki like the 181 would be perfect to buff it on to the skin.

Re: Stippling brush

okkay of the topic but i cant stop myself from being the auntie who buys everything from desi store thinking buying from any other place is haram and the mehndi she buys has halal written on it. So if the goat wasn’t slaughtered in zabeeha halal way would make the brush haram?
:smack: someone actually chastised me for that.

Re: Stippling brush

^lol. Umm.

The brushes are cruelty-free so no animal is killed just for the sake of brushes.

Stippling brush

I bought the Xmas set of mac brushes this year had a new set of stippling brushes I believe. Waaay cheaper than buying the same full size ones. Also I don't really own brushes etc and I'm only just getting into makeup so it's a good way to try them before investing in full size ones.

Re: Stippling brush

well everyone has preferences and fav's but it all depends on what you like the best
I've used all of them (stippling, regular foundation brush, beauty blender sponge, fingers, a regular fluffy brush)i find they all pretty much work the same
but it depends what kind of foundation i'm using as well. for example with creme foundations i like beauty blender and or the stippling brush the best and with liquid i like the basic flat foundation brush. and for concealer i always first apply with brush then sync it into my skin with the warmth of my fingers.
anyways i think the stippling brush is good

Re: Stippling brush

I thought fingers were the easiest and cheapest?
