Who is in?
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CdXdNMZW4AAhfaQ.jpg:large
Well Spring is upon us, so lets get out (or even indoor) and push ourselves into healthy activities. Whether it be running, walking, or any other thing. Lets just have a competition of daily step count and in the end we can add up to know how many steps we took, say in one month or two months.
So who is joining? Unless you are a fan of eating aaloo paratha and sleep only, now is the time to track your fitness.
What is needed?
A strong willpower: Dare to challenge yourself
An honest spirit: Nobody else will be tracking your steps but you
A smart phone steps counting app OR a pedometer
Most of the health/fitness apps track the steps. Iphone has a default health app which does the same.
Any other ideas or suggestions??

Re: Steps count challenge!!!
Nice thread Sidney
I would suggest investing in a fitbit / jawbone tracker - if budget does not allow go for their cheaper cousins like Mi Fit tracker which comes at 30$
Samsungs / iPhone do have apps which can track but you need to have them with you all the time which may not be possible.
Keep a target say 10K Steps a Day

Good ideas. Will keep that in mind.
It'll be great if everyone puts in their effort.
I can create a spreadsheet for 30 days and post it and everyone can copy their steps in there.
Re: Steps count challenge!!!
Oifu has fitbit. I will represent her here.
El Sid, why Spread sheet. Goal is to tone down, not Spread out.
Thank you.
Re: Steps count challenge!!!
I just got a fitbit yesterday and was going to post here! Good idea :k:
Re: Steps count challenge!!!
Lot if fitbitS in New York registered negative values yesterday.
Re: Steps count challenge!!!

Either way, the goal is to stay motivated and motivate others. And thats precisely why we note our numbers and submit it here as it provides a chance to keep ourselves in check.
We can start tomorrow.

Well since I wasnt invited, I wont be participating. kidding there…
I have a fitbit but cant seem to get more than 5k a day because I have bad knees. I usually do swimming for cardio and cant count steps there.
Re: Steps count challenge!!!
us1415 would u like to participate.
For swimmers,.please count one arm movement as 10 steps. If u can't remember the number of arm movements, multiply distance by 10. So 400 m is 4000 meters. Assume each meter is 3 steps.
Thank you.
The first person to make an entry gets 500 bonus steps. Entrise shall strictly follow this format
Date # Steps Equivalent
Incorrectly formated entries will be discarded.

:) Sorry dude I didnt mention you but talking of which I think I should call a roll for everyone to be included as i'm sure we all should participate.
Now as far as steps in swimming is concerened, as long as you know the distance you are swimming I'm sure you can measure the steps.
Here is what i've found:
[QUOTE]
**If you keep track of miles or time, not steps, you can convert your miles to steps by using the following formula:
**
Walking or pushing a wheelchair at a moderate pace: 1 mile in 20 minutes = 2,000 steps.
Jogging or running: 1 mile = approximately 4,000 steps.
Swimming: 1 mile = approximately 4,000 steps.

The committee roundly rejects the idea that one mile swimming is same as one mile walking or jogging.

Re: Steps count challenge!!!
Open water swimmers - 1 mile swim = what running wise?
Found few links that have a 3 to 4 x factor. 1 swimming mile equals 3.5 running miles.
1 mike 1600 meters.
1, 5 steps per meter. So 1 mile 3200 steps for running. And 3200 times 3.5 for swimming.
