Faaantaaastic...Richardson had absolutely no response to what Fleming was saying....he had a complete bewildered look over his face.....:D
It goes to show that you cannot getaway with saying anything in the commentary box......Good Job Fleming....

I think it was very stupid act by Felming. Commentator have a job to do and they are doing it. You may not like it. Tough luck. But that doesnt give anyone right to call him Idiot. I am sure we will get an apology from Fleming for his behaviour.

I agree with you. Commentators do their job and the players do their job. The players have no right to call them "idiot" or stupid. I think Fleming should have been more careful with his words. It's the job of commentators to give their best insight. If a player doesn't like it, well tough luck but commentators should be as they are 100% independents and they need not worry of player's resentment.

There must be some background to Fleming's reason for the outburst.
Because in this interview, I did not think that Richardson said anything particularly offensive to Fleming.

It starts off with Mark Richardson addressing the commentators.
Mark: "Thankyou Smithy, it is a little damp underfoot out here in the outfield, but rest assured if it clears up soon we can have a full day's play.
Stephen, I realise you're a little underdone in this test, after playing all those one dayers, but can you tell me the real excuse why the Kiwi's have failed with the bat in this game?"
Stephen: "I think failed is a strong word, we came here with a game plan but unfortunately we couldn't stick to it at times and I guess that's what cost us"
Mark: Chuckles off to the side "But I mean, it's as if our batsman have been unable to get back into the swing of test cricket. Is that a fair assumption?"
Stephen: sort of stares at Mark "I think we just have to do the basics of what we know best when it comes to batting. I think at times we have done that well and at times maybe not so well, but we certainly know we have a fight on our hands".
Mark: "And what could be the reason for the slow tempo of the innings? Is it the pitch you think? Is it playing up? Or are our batsman stuck in between the 50 over game and the longer version?"
Flem mumbles a barley audible answer and then he says "thanks mate".

I think it was very stupid of Fleming to say to Richardson - “You were in our side 6 months ago…”.
Just because Richardson played with Fleming does not mean he cannot criticize him or his team.
In fact, in his book 'Thinking Negatively’, Richardson has praised Fleming for inspirational leadership.

what Fleming said there should be a punishment /reprimand (in ICC words) if we bring the code of conduct or book of ICC laws into this matter which we should coz Fleming was representing an International cricket team he should get banned for the ODI's and a Test match, you are not allowed to outbursted like that, and as a captain you are there to set an example rather than make a mockery and act like its a street cricket.

but it was after the interview ended right
so can Fleming not be judged as a captain at this point of time and just any other person talking about his personal feelings?
i did feel that commentator was asking questions in a very negative way and Fleming did well and kept his composure DURING the interview

Richardson explained on New Zealand television tonight that Fleming having a go at him, in calling him an ‘idiot’ and criticising his commentary, was for “the cricket company”, a cricket show that Richardson co-hosts. Fleming and Richardson were seen laughing together over the shoot, after it had finished.

It was a "shoot" then. Well, apart from ruffling a few feathers here and there, it reminds me big-time of wrestling 'shoots'.

well .. i thought richardsons reaction was pretty fake as he was kinda smilin while he was tryn 2 act lyke he's shocked .. just an opinion

That was just a "shoot."?? Hmm, what else remains to be brought in to the "Gentlemen's game"? Cricket is more enchanting without "shoots" than with it. Anyhow, it's "weird" because it's been in the news for a while now. ON a side note, Mark Richardson acted brilliantly as per composure.
