its is embrasing that i dont know the basics of cooking…i wana ask can i put steel bowl in electric oven (not microwave)..is it safe …thinking to bake mash potatos tomorro…
Re: steel dish
suhaina - are you wanting to soften your potatoes in the oven before mashing them?
why dont you just boil them? so much easier!
Re: steel dish
Um, I don't bake mashed potatoes. I bake baked potatoes. For mashed potatoes I peel and cut the potatoes into large chunks. Boil the potatoes in water until the potatoes are tender (not mushy). Add butter, salt, pepper, cream or whole milk, chives and roasted smashed garlic and beat with a hand mixer until it's mixed well (fluffly and but NOT liquidy or thin).
Re: steel dish
Suhaina, these guys are very right ... dont get into the oven mess, simply boil the chunks and you will get mashed potatoes like Sehrysh said ...
and if you are absolutely adamant on baking, then after following Sehrysh's recipe, ( before adding the cream ) put them in that silver pot you got and pop them under the oven grill for 5-8 minutes ... that will give them a nice color and a nice flavour ...
and the answer to your question, yes your steel pot can go into the oven ..
Re: steel dish
sorry just remembered , make sure your pot doesnt have any plastic handles ...
