Stealing Cable/Dish

Is it wrong to buy something or alter your dish so that you can receive cable channels you normally wouldnt receive for what you are paying? I mean is it unislamic? Is it like outright stealing?

I know the answer seems obvious but I am asking for a reason. Thanks.

yes its wrong
i remember i went to some website and all of these ppl were asking the scholer whether its ok to steal from yahoodi..whether its ok to lie to a christian..blah blah..and the scholer said ofcourse its wrong

it doesnt matter where u live..it is kinda stealing and its wrong..but most of us would do it if we could

p.s. i hope u dont need any references cuz this is just my opinion :)

As Muslims we are supposed to be doing Dawa even by our actions in our daily lives.... imagine what kind of message will that send to non-muslims let alone Muslims ... Steeling from a Muslim or a Non-Muslim is the same ... although I have heard people using the terminology of "Dar-ul-Harab" to justify steeling of cable and some other services... I don't think "Dar-ul-Harab" applies in these cases but if someone can shed some light on this subject that will be great... Thanks

try this:)

Q & A Riba in Dal ur Harb

V this explanation below was quite interesting, so i thought id add it in

[quote]
Once the Islamic State is established anyone in Dar ul Harb will have no sanctity for his life or wealth hence, a Muslim in such circumstances can then go into Dar ul Harb and take the wealth from the people unless there is a treaty with that state. If there is no treaty, individual Muslims can even go to Dar ul Harb and take women to keep as slaves.

I have never heard the term Dar ul Harb. What does it mean? Thanks.

neither have i… lemme get the meaning for u

Jihad ideology separates humanity into two hostile blocs: the community of Muslims (Dar ul-Islam), and the infidel non-Muslims (Dar ul-Harb)..

Thank you sadzzz for the reply and ref…

I did some research and basically Dar-ul-Harb means House of War .. hostile non-Islamic countries were referred to as Dar-ul-Harb by Muslims… here is an excerpt from a Q&A session..

“To suggest today that any country where the majority of the people are non-Muslims is a land of war is to do Islam a great disservice. Muslims have good relations with many non-Muslim countries. We have mutual support pacts with a large number of non-Muslim countries in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Europe. Moreover, we can travel into these countries without fearing any adverse consequences, as long as we abide by their laws. No authority in these countries demands that we do what our religion forbids or refrain from doing our religious duties. We enjoy with them peace and security. How, then, can we classify them as “land of war”?”

But to understand this completely and understand the context read the full writing at IslamiCity - The Global Muslim eCommunity

This also talks about stealing from non-Muslims. Hope this helps.
