Op, my dad makes something like the picture you posted. It’s called chaampain I think. He doesn’t use bell peppers. He cooks it desi-style…with big chunky tomatoes…chunky onions…lots of thinky sliced ginger…and vinegar. I don’t know what spices he uses, but he does add vinegar. I don’t eat the mistake…i know what a waste …but I love the masala (tomatoes, onion etc) …it’s different from the othet masala-gravy compositions.
^ Chaanpain is plural of Chanp which comes from Chops. So chops are called chaanpain. You might be mistaking it for Pasanday, which are thin steak like pieces.
update: I misjudged - it was only 1/2 kg of steak strips, and two more people came round for dinner so I used all of it and it was exactly enough for 4! aren’t happy endings just lovely?
