Staying in your own domain.... !!!

I dont know if many of you have noticed behaviour of Javed Miandad and Ricky Ponting in last one months.

From the time Inzi has been made Captain ,it looks like It is the Javed who does all the talking. And I think somehow he is entering into domain of the Captian. To me it appears that he is just a non-playing captain.

Similary… From the time Waugh announced his retirement and Ricky has been announced Captain in waiting.Ricky ponting has been making all the statement. It appears that Steve has been retired beforre he actually retires. This sounds disgusting.
Some how it appears that Inzi and Steve are overshadowed by Javed and Ricky.

Just my observation.I could be wrong.
What do you guys think???

I can't comment on ricky Ponting/ Steve Waugh issue but as far as Javed is concerned, he's always been like that. He would jump up and down the balcony even when he was made the coach the first time. He was very active in his playing days too. Active enough to be noticed in the shadow of the cricket immortal, Imran Khan. And thats the way he operates. He likes to be proactive. In the thick of things. In the middle of all the action. He likes to give statements. He likes to play mind games, to get under the skin of the oppostion. He's a true Pakistani icon. Youngsters want to learn every bit they can from him. Due to his cult following, the media too likes to talk to him, and he likes to talk to media. If age wasn't a problem he'd still be playing for Pakistan. Thats how much passion he has.

Inzi, OTOH has a laid back attitude. He doesn't want to do any of those things. Heck he doesnt even want to attend the post match ceremonies. So I am sure he more than appreciates the fact that Javed takes care of most of the off-the-field stuff for him. Stuff he doesn't like. In the meantime he can concentrate on the on-field startegies. So all in all, I think both these guys compliment each other very well. I am sure Javed means no harm while trudging onto Inzi'z territory. All Javed has close to his heart is the goodwill of Pakistan cricket. Inzi has shown no signs of displeasure over Javed's proactive role either. So I dont see any problem between Javed and Inzi at all. And I dont think there will be any in the future. Not over the issue of territory. They are like postive and negative ends of a magnet. One active, other passive. And both of them work fine together.

Thats not a good excuse.People have to behave according to the role that they are playing at that time. Doend he need to adapt? or just because he is great player or team is winning it doesnt matter? In a Marriage party Groom should be the most important person not his boss. ;)

Some people are born public speakers while some learn the ropes. Inzi is a new captain (so to speak). It will be a while before he gets comfortable in the role and confident enough to speak to the media. Till that time someone has to fill in the role of team spokesman.

Also, Inzi needs to know what should be said. He is sometimes too straightforward. Like the latest quotes over whether Shoaib will play in the second test, Inzi said one thing, Miandad kept it vague.. so these are the sort of things, where it will help if the team management talk amongst each other before making contradictory statements in the press. Inzi will learn this, if he stays on the job long enough.

f&b, yaar i sincerely dont think that i have seen many statements from Ponting and there were quite a few from Waugh in last 2 tests, infact everyone has ssaid something, Hayden Gilchrist, , Ponting, McGill everyone.

Yes Miandad likes to speak a lot and its not that Inzi didnt get any limelight, Inzi is bascially an introvert character, he gave a detailed interview a few days back so its not a big deal. We will face a problem when it crosses the limits. So far so good.

yes...thats the thing I am concerned about.Right now Inzi is new as Captian.Moment he starts getting success and feels comfortable with his role then there could be issues.

Well talking about Ricky...I have noticed most of talking from Aussies side is being done by him.Like reacting to Gangluy's comment or Plan for Boxing day test etc.Infect Peter Robouck pointed this thing in one of his articles.

Maybe we now know the reason for India's better success rate than Pakistan? Maybe the Indian administration has been so busy defining and implementing the roles of the coach and the captain that it has lost focus of what the original plan was. To win? I don't know. For us, winning is more important. As long as the team is winning, and more importantly the captain has no qualms with what Javed does, we're fine.

Since for you every discussion is about India and Pak then there is no point discussing with you. Have fun and just grow up.

Javed is a tactical genious whos record as a player, captain and now coach speaks for itself.
He should say whatever he wants as long as we win with him as the coach.

he is no doubt a genious and his two cents are actually worth much more than that... inzi could learn alot if he has any intention of keeping the captaincy for a long period of time

I guess it must sting when you can’t even defend your own country.

Agreed LL Sahib. If you ever get a chace, read Miandad's book. He really has a keen insight on cricket.
As for Inzi, I don't think his captaincy will last for too long cause of his age (what is he 33?)
