Staying Healthy in Ramadan

What changes do you make during Ramadan to keep yourself healthy and active in Ramadan. The rozay will be long this year and there isn’t much time between sahoor and iftar. Share ideas to keep your body active and replenished.

  1. I won’t be indulging in iftar. Just dinner.
  2. I’m going to try making my smoothies in coconut water because it has electrolytes and getting 8 glasses of water in a short span seems somewhat impossible to me. Do I eat or drink haha
  3. Greek yogurts with fruits and nuts for sehri.
  4. Long walk post dinner. Just a walk. Yes.

I am gluten free so my choices are somewhat limited but plus add ideas.

  3. Complete sleep after Fajr
  4. A walk sometime during the day

Re: Staying Healthy in Ramadan

Will try to avoid fried foods. God help me…them cheese samosay!!! :bummer:

Hydration. I find it harder to be thirsty in Ramzan than hungry. So will try to drink plenty of water. Green smoothies.

Try to sleep soon after Isha…get enough hours of sleep so that I can hopefully wake up for tahajjud.

Somehow incorporate workouts. Maybe after iftar for a half hour before isha?

Re: Staying Healthy in Ramadan

How much time will there be for that ?

Re: Staying Healthy in Ramadan

I have been walking three/four km everyday but I think I'm going to have to quit. It gets too dark post magrib where I walk and during the day I might as well be killing myself because I melt in daylight. Doesn't matter how pleasant the weather is I drink a whole jug of water when I get back. I do have a treadmill but it's so boring... sigh

Re: Staying Healthy in Ramadan

5-6 hours hopefully. For someone like me who has been an insomniac for months, even 5 hours of undisturbed sleep is a huge deal.

nice tips ever.

Re: Staying Healthy in Ramadan

I know many would say this is wrong to do but I have been continuing with my workouts this ramadhan but only thing is I do them every other day not daily.
The best way I found to drink more in the already little time between aftaar and sehri is to keep a bottle of water by my side during taravee so i can take a few sips in between nwafal. I have managed to drink a small bottle this way.

Eating wise I have alhamdulillah so far managed to limit, very much fried foods, I do have something but it really is like 1 pakora or one spring roll i make sure my meal is eaten rather than the snacks although i do make them for my family who fast and want to have these things at aftaar.

I pray quran before fajr namaz time just after eating sehri. Sehri is very light too, often it has been a small bowl of cereal, a wholemeal toast, dates tea and water not all but from these.

Ramadhan has also taught my toddler to sleep herself, i have been leaving her in her cot and praying in my room and she has fallen asleep just seeing i am there otherwise it would be half and hour of patting her stroking her hair to get her to sleep.
