STATUS OF HADHRAT ABU BAKR (RD)

STATUS OF HADHRAT ABU BAKR (RD)

Honour and glory belongs only to Allah Ta’ala. He grants virtue, merit and dignity to whomsoever He pleases. When Allah Himself accords anyone with status, no mortal being has a hand in disgracing or degrading him without himself being humiliated. After the Ambiyaa (AS), Allah has conferred great status to Hadhrath Abu Bakr (Radhiallaahu Ánhu). He has made reference to him in the Qur’aan and also via the blessed tongue of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam). Besides, the love that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) had for Hadhrath Abu Bakr (Radhiallaahu Ánhu), and the love which Hadhrath Abu Bakr (Radhiallaahu Ánhu) had for Allah Ta’ala, for Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam), and for Islam is irrefutable.

Verses of the Qur’aan regarding Hadhrat Abu Bakr (Radhiallahu Anhu)

Allah Ta’ala says:
“If you do not help Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam), then Allah Ta’ala assisted him when the unbelievers drove him out, he was one of the two when the two were in the cave, and he said to his companion, " Do not grieve for indeed Allah is with us.” Then Allah sent down his Sakeenah (peace) on him."

Commenting on this verse, Hadhrath Ali (Radhiallaahu Ánhu) states, " In this Ayah, Allah Ta’ala reprimanded the entire world besides Hadhrath Abu Bakr (Radhiallaahu Ánhu) for not Assisting Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam). Moreover Allah has praised and commended Hadhrath Abu Bakr (Radhiallaahu Ánhu)." Allah Ta’ala refers to Hadhrath Abu Bakr (Radhiallaahu Ánhu) as “Thaniyathnain” (the second of the two). Imaam Qurtubi states, “It is evident from this term that Hadhrath Abu Bakr (Radhiallaahu Ánhu) is the automatic Khalifa after Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam). The “second” of a leader is his successor.” (Qurtubi v8 , p147). Further, Allah Ta’ala refers to Hadhrath Abu Bakr (Radhiallaahu Ánhu) as “Sahib” which signifies companion. Hence his “Sahabiyat” (companionship with Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) has been evident and established in the Qur’aan. He enjoys the virtue of bieng the only sahabi whose companionship with Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) is mentioned in the Qur’aan. Allah Ta’ala relates the words of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam), " for indeed Allah is with us." Allah will only be with the true believers. Hence the Ayah firmly establishes the strong imaan of Hadhrath Abu Bakr (Radhiallaahu Ánhu). In Sura Ash Shams Allah refers to Hadhrath Abu Bakr as “Atqa” (The most righteous). Allah Ta’ala declares, “The most honoured in the eyes of Allah is the most righteous among you.” From this it is ascertained that Hadhrath Abu Bakr (Radhiallaahu Ánhu) was the most superior personality among the Sahabah.

Ahadith pertaining to Hadhrath Abu Bakr’s (Radhiallaahu Ánhu) virtues

Hadhrath Aa’isha (Radhiallaahu Ánha) relates that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) said to her in his last illness, “call Abu Bakr, your father and your brother to me so that I may write out a declaration, for certainly I fear that an aspirant may aspire or someone may say, " I (am worthy of the Khilafah) while Allah and the believers would desire none besides Abu Bakr.” (Muslim). This Hadith bears ample testimony that Hadhrath Abu Bakr is the only sahabi who had the right to the Khilafah after Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam). In another hadith Hadhrath Aa’isha (Radhiallaahu Ánha) relates, "Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) said, “It is not appropriate for anyone else to lead the congregational salaah in a nation in which Hadhrath Abu BAKR (Radhiallaahu Ánhu) IS PRESENT.” (Thirmidhi). This hadith suffices to establish the superiority of Hadhrath Abu Bakr over all other sahabah. It is evident that the most superior is most eligible and qualified to asume the Khilafat after Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam).

Hadhrath ibn Umar (Radhiallaahu Ánhu) relates that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) said, "I will be the first to be raised from my grave (on the day of judgement), thereafter Abu Bakr and then Umar (will be raised). (Thirmidhi)

To be raised with Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) indicates the imaan of Hadhrath Abu Bakr (Radhiallaahu Ánhu). This hadith proves that Hadhrath Abu Bakr left this world with imaan and he will rise on the Day of Qiyaamah with imaan.

May Allah Ta’ala grant us true love for Hadhrath Abu Bakr and all the sahaba (Radhiallaahu Anhum) and Nabi (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam).

^No i would definitely not disagree.

But there are lots of crap that the liars concocted that entered into the books of history. And its not isolated to a couple of personalities, but hardly anyone has been spared, which includes the Imams as well.

We do not wish this place to be a crap match between sects as to who can get the worst qoutes against teh other sects religious personalities. If thats the intent of posters, there are other sites doing it plz join them if you haven't already.

Re: STATUS OF HADHRAT ABU BAKR (RD)

I am sorry… I am not a scholar… so please correct me if I am wrong I am trying to analyze the ayat word by word as you have quoted above…

“If you do not help Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam), then Allah Ta’ala assisted **him **when the unbelievers drove him out…”

This ayat starts by talking about that Allah SWT assited him(Prophet P.B.U.H)… when he(Prophet P.B.U.H) was driven out…

1. Please correct me… Does Him in this part of the ayat refer to Prophet P.B.U.H?

“…he was one of the two when the two were in the cave, and he said to his companion, " Do not grieve for indeed Allah is with us.”

2. Please correct me… the first part starts by identifying he was one of the two… and furter it states he said to his companion… The fact the ayat first points out he was one of the two and later says he said to his companions… Based on the fact he said to his companions…Does he here means Prophet P.B.U.H ?

Now lets go to the last part:

“…Then Allah sent down his Sakeenah (peace) on him.”

3. Pleae let me know.. If he and him in the earlier part of the ayat.. is it refering to Prophet Mohammad P.B.U.H or Abu Bakr… and if it is Prophet P.B.U.H. the him in the last part would it refer to Prophet P.B.U.H or Hazrat Abu Bakr…

4. Another thing that concerned me is the last part of the ayat refers to him (not them)… if the reciepent of the peace from Allah SWT was Hazrat Abu Bakr.. would Allah SWT leave out Prophet P.B.U.H on this part even though in the first part it talks about Allah SWT assisting Prophet P.B.U.H…?

I was reading notes on this ayat in the Quran published by Tehrik-e-tarsile Qur’an, Inc. Following are the notes on this ayat… which I found fit the context of your translation:

The epoch-making event of the Holy Prophet’s migration from Mecca to Medina is of such importance that the Holy Quran has referred to it and to the stories connected with it in three places here, 2;194, 8;30. In short the Qoreish had decided to stab the Holy Prophet in his bed is such a manner that all the tribes of Qoreish be involved in it so that Hashimites would not dare to retaliate facing all the tribes together and would accept the rasom for it. The Holy Prophet was commanded by God to leave Mecca for Madina. Before the night fixed for the execution of the conspiracy and that Ali should sleep in his bed camouflaging the absence of the Holy Prophet, Ali welcomed to take the risk of his own life of lying in his bed and facing the enemies’ attack. From the pessage 8;30 and this verse it is obvious that the conspiracy was only against the Holy Prophet and none else was concerned with it. There was the danger for Ali in particular of being killed by the enemy mistaking him in the bed for the Holy Prophet. However the Holy Prophet was forced by circumtances to leave the place for the Cave. Abu Bakr met him on the way and accompanied him to the Cave, but in the Cave he was full of fear and dreadfully worried, to the extent that the Holy Prophet had to console him. The Holy Prophet was considered to be the second of the two, not for any other consideration but because of being together in one place. The Holy Prophet is singly referred in respect of being helped by God, in respect of being helped by God, in respect of being driven out by the infidels; in respect of the Tranquillity being sent down to him from God and in respect of being supported by unseen armies of the angels. The only thing that may be considered that honoured Abu Bakr is being mentioned at one of the occupants of the cave and not with any other identity but what is worthy of being noted (with suprise) here is that he was not included as recipient of the Tranquillity from God while in other places where Holy Qur’an mentions of the Tranquillity from God, includes of believers along with the Holy Prophet. It is obvious that those of the believers are meant, who used to remain with the Holy Prophet even in the worst of the circumtances calm and undisturbed in the fighting for the cause of God and welcoming or longing to be martyred for it. Even there those who used to run away from battle field, deserting the Holy Prophet will not be included. Therefore excepting the honour which Abu Bakr had in being the only occupant of the cave with the Holy Prophet, he had not the honour of having the Tranquillity, while Ali on that eventful night sleeping in the Holy Prophet’s bed had the same Tranquility which the Holy Prophet had in the Cave which was appreciated and houred by God by Vr. 2;194 and the Holy Prophet said that God expressed to the angels His admiration of Ali’s matchless sacrifice and devotion. This is the only solitary passage where Abu Bakr is meant beyond any doublt (A.P.)

  1. Brother based on the 4 points I mentioned above, can you please explain does He in the ayat you quoted above refers to Holy Prophet P.B.U.H or Abu Bakr… and secondly on what basis is him being second of the two is used to derive him being successor of Prophet P.B.U.H… On what basis is this conclusion derived… ? Please explain…** If you look the incident of the migration in depth.. Holy Prophet P.B.U.H. left Hazrat Ali A.S… behind on his bed… He was the Prophet representative when he migrated… If being in cave with Prophet makes one an automatic successor… Sleeping in bistar-e-Rasool… for the sake of Allah SWT, a person who even Kuffar confused as Prophet.. what honor would you give such a personality…? Not only that He was the person who was there with Prophet thoughout… no matter if its shob-abi talib or the battle…he even had the honor to perform the funeral services of Prophet P.B.U.H… the person for whom Prophet P.B.U.H. said the following:**
“For whoever I am his Leader (mawla), 'Ali is his Leader (mawla).”
    www.al-islam.org/ghadir
  1. Brother with due respect. I don’t intend to insult any personalities here or point fingers at any particular companion but I would like to know being a companion of Prophet P.B.U.H is enough to declare if a person is pious? If so, then why does Quran warns Prophet P.B.U.H. about some people around him being hypocrites in the following verses:

9:101 And (however) among the ARABS AROUND YOU ARE HYPOCRITES, and
also among the people of Madina (there are some who) persist
in hypocrisy whom you (O Muhammad) DO NOT KNOW. We, We know
them, and We shall punish them twice; then they will be sent to
a painful doom.

Even there are following hadith’s in Sahih books which rules out all companions being pious:

Sahih al-Bukhari Hadith: 8.578
Narrated 'Abdullah:
The Prophet said, “I am your predecessor at the Lake-Fount.” 'Abdullah
added: The Prophet said, "I am your predecessor at the Lake-Fount, and
some of you will be brought in front of me till I will see them and
then they will be taken away from me and I will say, ‘O Lord, my
companions!’ It will be said, ‘You do not know what they did after you
had left.’

Sahih Bukhari Hadith: 8.587
Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Prophet said, "While I was sleeping, a group (of my followers were
brought close to me), and when I recognized them, a man (an angel)
came out from amongst (us) me and them, he said (to them), ‘Come
along.’ I asked, ‘Where?’ He said, ‘To the (Hell) Fire, by Allah’ I
asked, ‘what is wrong with them?’ He said, ‘They turned APOSTATE as
renegades after you left.’ Then behold! (Another) group (of my
followers) were brought close to me, and when I recognized them, a man
(an angel) came out from (me and them) he said (to them); Come along.’
I asked, “Where?’ He said, ‘To the (Hell) Fire, by Allah.’ I asked,
What is wrong with them?’ He said, 'They turned APOSTATE as renegades
after you left. So I did not see anyone of them escaping except a few
who were like camels without a shepherd.”

  1. And what about the love of Ahleybait which is mentioned in the following verse of Quran?

[Shakir 42:23] That is of which Allah gives the good news to His servants, (to) those who believe and do good deeds. Say: I do not ask of you any reward for it but love for my near relatives; and whoever earns good, We give him more of good therein; surely Allah is Forgiving, Grateful.
