Stationary cycle for weight loss

Ok i have this stationary cycle at home - you know the one which doesn’t really move but you just keep cycling on it. A few people tell me it really doesnt reduce weight because its only your legs that are moving in it. Some people who came over also said that it may add some more fat to your hips because you really arent moving with it.

What do i do? Has anyone used these? Any help in reducing weight - if yes from which areas? For how long?

Re: Stationary cycle for weight loss

Plus, its not automatic; its a manual one.

these einsteins you are dealing with are 100% correct and need to take their message against stationary bikes to every single gym because it seems like every gym has stationary bikes.

you are not bulking up by biking the resistance is simply not enough , its high rep lowe resistance, a good aerobic activity and burns a lot of calories.

when you use up more calories than you consume you will see weight loss and it will be from all of your body. The people who are talking to you, simply dont know jack..

abra..either ur friends r extremely dense or they r trying to fool u..

stationary bike is aerobic wrkt. u will lose weight especially from areas of the butt thighs hips and even stomach..

Re: Stationary cycle for weight loss

like mentioned above...the people that told you that you wont see results from stationary bikes obviously do not know what they are talking about.

you will not only burn calories but will gain more muscles in the legs, abs and glutes.

Re: Stationary cycle for weight loss

its supposed to be really good for your knee joints.

Re: Stationary cycle for weight loss

So for how long do you exercise on it? Any stats on how many hours you worked out and how many pounds you lost?

Re: Stationary cycle for weight loss

its a little bit more complex

on an exercise front…its a question of calories burnt, and that is not just a function of how long, but what was your style. were you going slow, were you goign fast..what resistance level, how long were you in your target heartbeat range..are you doing intervals of high intensity followed by lower intensity..

Then its a question of how many calories are you consuming.

all things being equal, u need to burn 3500 calories to lose 1 Lb.

so you need to figure out how many calories will you be burning

here is a calculator to help you estimate that.

Calories Burned

Re: Stationary cycle for weight loss

how dumb! :hehe:

as long as ur moving sumthing ur burning calories! be it anything even little finger movement. so how can not lose calories and weight wen ur actualy on a bike and sweating like mad? :vivo: its jst the bike thats not moving not u :hehe: ask them if they think same about a bike with wheels their answer will definitly be positive.

and theres no way in hell that ur gonna add fat to any part of ur body. like i said as long as ur moving ur losing stuff not gaining anything except for MUSCLES. may be its muscles that ur buddies r calling fat :hehe: oh and btw if u build muscles u lose more calories and weight. a pound of muscles in ur body burns way more calories than a pound of fat in ur body. so its always a good idea to build sum lean muscles.

Re: Stationary cycle for weight loss
