What do you think would happen in Iraq if the U.S. left with the insurgency still intact.
Would you blame the U.S. if civil war erupted?
Would you blame the U.S. if a sadistic and cruel regime took over?

It's not just the US troops that have to leave.. all the black ops, special agents and 'contractors' should leave too.. no one wants those bombs in public places anymore..
Once the US leaves the insurgency will drop it's arms and join the political scene.. and yes.. Shias fear that cuz once again they'd have to fight for power with the Sunnis.. it's convenient hiding behind the US troops.
I can assure you.. if a brutal regime takes control, the US would be the first one to embrace and support it.. historically speaking i can't be wrong.. :)

If civil war happens - 3 countries. South will be shia supported by Iran. Middle and west will be sunni supported by Saudi/Kuwait/UAE and Pakistan plus USA [though indirectly] and the north will be kurdish.
Kurdish north will be attacked by turkey without doubt and if the kurds mess with iran they will attack them too.
in the end after the dust settles it will become a mess - 3 state federal state or 3 indepened countries.
