A friend of mine has been working with a small technology startup company that has grown exponentially in the past year. They’ve won contracts with large vendors and are looking for equity investments into the company for their second stage of funding. They are looking to raise 3.5m pounds. If anyone is interested in more info, please contact myself on 07736281146. Thanks.

why don't they just go public. It's a huge sum to raise by any means for a start-up tech company, even with healthy revenues. Having said that, I have some of my own reservations about start-up tech companies going public at an early stage due to the volatility in the stock market, and also there's no point if the company is profitable with healthy streams of revenues. The company I am working with is more or less in the same situation, but I would like to hear your take on it..
Re: Startup company investment opportunity
Sorry for getting back so late, didn't realise someone had actually replied. Well the decision to go public rests with the shareholders and directors of the company. It depends on the IPO climate for the specific technology sector and the volatility in the market as you have pointed out. In this particular instance it is more likely that the company will be bought out by a larger contender which is what the management team wants as an exit strategy in five year's time. The amount is quite large but is split over three rounds of funding, most of the funding has been complete now. What kind of technology sector are you working in?
Re: Startup company investment opportunity
mushi, I am a web applications developer, and the company I am with develops and deploys interactive navigational systems for shopping malls. Recently, the company signed a cotract to expand in the toronto area. So, for expansion purposes the company is raising money through private investors. Even though, I don't really get involve in the business aspect of the company, but since it is a start-up tech company, and I have been developing applications for some of the clients who happen to be independent promoters in the mining sector, perhaps in the near future, I would like to help out in raising money. But, I agree that the stock market is not very supportive of tech companies, and also through our expansion, we can be a lot more valuable to the share-holders instead of going public. Good luck!
