Starting Solids...yikes!

My 6 month old will be starting solid’s soon and I feel completely clueless and overwhelmed! I know that I should start with rice cereal first (2-3 tsp once a day). But I’m completely lost on what to do after that. Should I increase the amount of rice cereal I give him each day and give it to him more often? If so then how many times a day? Also, when should I start pureed fruits and veggies? How often should I give those? Should I stop rice cereal at that point? I’m so confused :frowning:

Also, I would like to make his pureed fruit and veggies at home, but I’m not sure how. Do you guys freeze it and thaw it as you need or do you make it fresh each time they eat?

Its been long time since I made these things but anyways you can always start with cereal with 1 teaspoon and don't be surprised if baby throws it out.Do it for a week and then introduce different tastes.:)

Re: Starting Solids...yikes!

My doctor says that the main nutrition for babies for the first year should be mothers milk or formula. So the solids are really just there to supplement, but shouldn't really be replacing whole meals. We're hoping to start solids at the end of this month!

Re: Starting Solids...yikes!

when you start solids stick to 1 time a day for 15 days to a month then you can go for 2 times a day and continue with 2 days for next 15 days to a month then go to 3 times a day.

my daughter's dr told me to give her cerelac , kichdi , mashed banana , apple puree , sooji till 8 months and then I can add protein to her diet like boiled egg etc.

my daughter is 6 months masha allah I am still giving her 1 time a day !
