starting solids for babies

well my son started with the usual baby cereal and pureed fruit when he was 4 months (yes we start them off at that time here in denmark)… he didnt care much, as long as he was getting his milk on the side too… then when he turned 6 months i thought lets get the cereal a bit on the thicker side with less water added.. and puree the fruit still but let it be on the lumpy side… he refused it… i thought ok no problem.. give him more time..

he is now 7 months and 3 weeks.. and the child still wont accept lumps.. its a disaster site and meal times are enough to scar me and him.. we both hate it! he doesnt chew. he hates lumpy porridge. he hates lumpy fruit. he will suck on roti or bread or rice grains but then spit them out!!! i dont know anyone who’s baby does that And its getting really irritating now and a bit worrying. he will eat anything in a fine paste form. irkh

i know all babies are diff but shouldnt he be able to accept slight lumps by now?? i keep telling myself he will get better by 8th month but he is meant to be able to chew really well by then and well, right now, he doesnt even know he has gums!!! and the devil has 2 bottom teeth!!

any other parents go thru this with their babies?? its kinda freaky seeing loads of oter babies much younge than him eating solids really well whilst hazrat is lying their drinking his solids!!!

i have tried to force him but he just lets it dribble all out with his saliva!! grrr

oh can it also be related to reflux.. cuz he did suffer from it… just got over it now…

tahnks in advance guys

Re: starting solids for babies

it could possibly b because of his reflux but personall speaking when we strted to wean bubbles we strted at 4 months too but with no luck so we fed him here n there n then waited till he was 6 mnths n gave him the puree ood frst n then at 7mnths strted gving him peices of toast, now he would also suck on it n then spit it out so thts perfectly normal, even tho he has 2 teef he still spits it out now but thts how they strt off n usually by mnth 8 or 9 they get the hang of it . Oh n he could NOT want to chew things bcoz his gums r sore Bubbles had the sore gums pb n then they will more or less only go ffor puree food try bonjela or something ebfre meals it shud help

LOL my sister’s kid is three years old and still cant take big lumps and throws up. I guess there’s nothing that you can do with these kinda kids until they grow up and get a good beating for throwing up. only then they’ll learn thier lesson!

Re: starting solids for babies

khawa, every baby is different. Dont force him if he doesnt want it yet. Try again in a few weeks. Kanzah is also different in the way that she doesnt eat much. But then she has always been like that. I have learnt to stop when she refuses becauase if i force her, 1) she cries 2) and throws up instantly. Jo khaya woh bhi nikal dia to kia faida? Give him time and follow his instants. He has his whole life to eat different textures.

oh girliessssssssssss

BABY LED WEANING is DA BOMB! try it... just let ure baby be the boss.. aariz is eating like a pig! mashallah.... no baby crap puree .... normal solids... any baby from 6 months should be able to try it.... i SO SO SO suggest all mommies to try it out!

my son did the same till he was one year old. He would literally start choking on cheerios. while other kids in his class were gobbling pizza slices :)
it used to irritate me but we staying with puree food, overcooked rice and chicken and all that stuff. at one year old he had 4 teeth. and tahts when it started getting better.
and once he had his molars coming in, he turned into a good eater all of sudden. I dont knwo if other kids starting teething early but it did seem to have an impact on my son. in teh meanwhiel we just dealt with it :)
just keep trying... and do not force!
