Starting regular milk

So my little guy is now 10 months old, Mashallah. Now I know that you’re typically not supposed to start giving them homo milk before their 1st birthday, and maybe even after that. My problem is that he doesn’t like drinking formula very much anymore. He’ll drink maybe about 14-15 ounces in a day, and I gotta hold him down to make him drink that too. I don’t strap him down, but you know get the idea :stuck_out_tongue:

Now he eats everything from his baby cereal, to fruits and veggies and the stuff we eat (roti, rice, beef/chicken, etc). So I think what’s happened is that the taste of the formula is pretty bland now that his taste buds have increased, that he doesn’t enjoy drinking his milk anymore. He’ll prefer eating regular food, instead of drinking his milk.

I wanted to ask at what age did you start your children on regular milk? I thinking that maybe I should start a once-a-day feeding of homo milk, and see how that goes..and how he fares with it?

Or should I just wait out the last two months, and then give him the milk? He’s had regular milk here and there, having bites of cereal when I eat. So any suggestions? Oh, and I don’t know how far the allergy argument goes…that starting babies on milk earlier than you should, will cause them to have allergies to the milk at a later stage :hmmm:

Re: Starting regular milk

I started a little after 12 months.

Are you counting the milk he has in cereals and such? I think he should typically be having about 24 ounces, but that can include milk that is mixed into food.

Re: Starting regular milk

We start arounf 8 months here with 1\4 cup.. By the 1st bday they are having regular feeds... Yaar its not a health hazard... Amreeka kanayda arw a but paranoid in a lot of child rearing aspects ....

Maybe u can start with 1/4 cup and work ure way up... Include all other dairy in the count like sahar mentioned...

Re: Starting regular milk

Yeah its nothin dangerous if you start early on cows milk... still consult with ur Dr anyway if your concerned.
